IHG picks up Dominica conversion for InterContinental

IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed for an InterContinental Hotels & Resorts property on the island of Dominica.

A conversion and renovation of the previously-named Cabrits Kempinski Resort, InterContinental Dominica Cabrits Resort & Spa will mark the brand’s third Caribbean resort hotel upon its planned spring 2023 reopening.

Bayside luxury

Located along Douglas Bay on the island’s northwest side, the 151-room luxury resort will feature four outdoor pools, an expansive spa, fitness centre and beach access.

Corporate events and blended travel can be accommodated within 8,500 sq ft of indoor and outdoor meeting space and an onsite business centre  Additionally, four on-property restaurants and beach and swim-up pool bars will provide refreshment for guests.

Development range

IHG Hotels & Resorts will lead the resort’s renovations alongside owner Range Developments, a hospitality investment and development company with more than a decade of experience serving the eastern Caribbean.

Beyond InterContinental Dominica Cabrits Resort & Spa, Range Developments also is developing two IHG-branded resorts in Grenada – Six Senses La Sagesse (projected to open in Q4 2023) and InterContinental Resort La Sagesse (projected to open in Q1 2025).

Emerging hotspot

The luxury hotel brand is located in new destinations across emerging global travel hotspots that span historic buildings, city landmarks and immersive resorts.

As of Q3 2022, 19 of InterContinental’s 208 open global properties are based across South and Central America, as well as Mexico and the Caribbean, and four regional hotels are among the 84 in the brand’s global pipeline.

In the USA, upcoming additions include the 390-key Intercontinental San Antonio and the 223-room InterContinental Hotel at Cityplace Tower Dallas in Texas, as well as the 170-key InterContinental Hotel – The Illinois Building in Indianapolis.
