Hilton is set to debut in the Republic of Moldova, with its first hotel set to open in Chișinău in 2026.

A new life for a historic building

The Moldovan capital’s famed Dacia Hotel building will be extensively reconstructed and renovated to become a Hilton Garden Inn. This will involve expanding and modernising the structure to meet Hilton standards.

The project will be located in Chișinău’s historic centre. The Dacia Hotel’s current staff will remain the same, with the transition to Hilton branding expected to provide them with more training and upskilling opportunities.

“We are confident that this project will be a success and will provide top-quality services to tourists, whether they come from abroad or from Moldova”, stated Iulia Scurtu, the manager of the Dacia Hotel.

Investment in the franchise project will start with an initial allocation of €5 million, a number which is projected to double within the coming years.

Hilton Garden Inn is one of Hilton’s full-service, elevated essentials brands catering to business and leisure travellers. The network includes over 860 properties with 126,086 rooms across 49 countries and territories.

Moldova booms as tourist destination

The Hilton property will help to strengthen Moldova’s HORECA industry and will mark an important milestone for the Republic’s tourism plan.

“Hilton’s entry into the Moldovan market is an important milestone for us. Moldova is an emerging destination with a lot of untapped potential,” said Natalia Bejan, Director of Invest Moldova Agency.

“We believe that this investment will not only raise the standard of hospitality in the country but also further catalyse the growth of tourism and economic performance,” she added.

“We look forward to welcoming Hilton to our country and working together to bring new levels of service to both domestic and international guests.”
