The Prince Kyoto Takaragaike, Autograph Collection, designed by renowned Japanese architect Togo Murano, has become the third Japanese property within Marriott International’s highly regarded upmarket brand.

Another hotel in the Land of the Rising Sun has joined Autograph Collection, this time in the picturesque city of Kyoto. The elegant property takes full advantage of its excellent location beside the renowned Takaragaike Park.

Boosting Kyoto’s vibrant hospitality offering

All eyes are on Japan’s former imperial capital right now thanks to The Prince Kyoto Takaragaike, Autograph Collection, a sophisticated 310-key hotel in the northern region of the city.

“We are excited to expand the Autograph Collection portfolio in Japan with the brand’s third hotel in the country, said Rajeev Menon, president of Asia Pacific (excluding China) at Marriott International. “The Prince Kyoto Takaragaike perfectly highlights Autograph Collection’s promise of showcasing experiences that are informed by unique perspectives on craft and hospitality. This opening reinforces Marriott International’s commitment to continue expanding its footprint across Japan.”

Local flavours allied to a truly global offering

Guests of The Prince Kyoto Takaragaike can take full advantage of the beautiful Takaragaike Park and its trails, hikes and flora, including Japan’s famous cherry blossoms, as well as benefit from convenient access to Kokusaikaikan Station.

Special attention is paid to celebrating Japanese traditions in the hotel’s design and offering, but as is typical of Autograph Collection, this local focus is married to a truly international flair. The clever blend of local and global results in a truly unique experience, and is most fully realised in the property’s architecture, executed by modernist designer Togo Murano.

Stay in or head out

The hotel’s worldly side comes out in its F&B offerings. While Takaragaike Japanese Restaurant showcases local cuisine and Tohen Chinese Restaurant offers food from neighbouring China, French fare can also be sampled at Ito-Zakura and cocktails can be sipped at the English-style Bar Ascot. In addition, visitors can request a specially curated list of must-sees and dos in the vicinity of the property, which includes traditional riverside dining or kawadoko at the nearby Kibune or Takao restaurants, or dinner in a tatami room with a maiko at the hotel.

“Kyoto is the cultural capital of Japan, and for many centuries, it has welcomed visitors from all over the world who come to take in its beautiful natural scenery, fascinating culture and excellent cuisine,” said Masashi Takizawa, general manager of The Prince Kyoto Takaragaike. “We are extremely pleased to become part of Marriott International’s prestigious Autograph Collection, and to present our very special hotel to the next generation of visitors who wish to discover authentic, one-of-a-kind experiences when they visit Kyoto.”

Autograph Collection, a prominent brand within Marriott International’s global portfolio, is comprised of upper-upscale and luxury independent hotels with distinctive personalities in major cities and desirable destinations worldwide.
