Hilton Hotels has added to its European presence by signing three hotels in the Greek capital, Athens to its collection brands.
A trio of franchise agreements with local partner Aluma Greece IKE will see two hotels added to Hilton’s Tapestry Collection, with a third joining the Curio Collection. The result will be an expansion of Hilton’s choice for guests in Athens, by the addition of more than 500 more rooms.
A connection with Isrotel’s Aluma brand
The hotels are part of Aluma, a new chain of international hotels being developed by Israeli group Isrotel. The first Aluma property, Skylark, is located above Omonoia Square in Athens, and is already trading. This will be joined in coming months by Adia Aluma Athens and Anise Aluma Athens.
The Adia hotel will join Hilton’s Curio Collection, with the new hotel featuring 215 rooms and a rooftop bar. The 99 room Anise, located in the city’s Evripidou district, will feature under Hilton’s Tapestry Collection, with both joining during 2025.
Following in 2026, the Skylark hotel will also be aded to the Tapestry Collection. With 191 rooms, the hotel also features amenities including a rooftop pool.
We’re excited to be working with Hilton to bring three fantastic properties to the city of Athens,” said Lior Raviv, CEO of Isrotel. “With growing international appeal for lifestyle hotels, we’re looking forward to introducing the Curio Collection by Hilton and Tapestry Collection by Hilton brands to Athens and welcoming guests to each of the properties.”
For Hilton, the additions further cement the group’s connection with a city where it launched its first hotel more than sixty years ago.
Hilton recently launched its Hilton Garden Inn brand to the city, and it is working with development partners to reimagine one of its landmark properties, the Hilton Athens – which first opened in 1963. A comprehensive redevelopment will create instead a new hotel, to be branded as the Conrad Athens, a hotel with 278 rooms. In addition, the makeover will create 55 branded residences, which will be split between two brands, some as Conrad residences, with the balance bearing the luxury Waldorf Astoria brand.
Also adding to the group’s presence in Athens are two upcoming refurbishments. The former Hotel Mistral in Kastella will see its 83 rooms renovated, ahead of a relaunch during 2025 as the Hampton by Hilton Piraeus Mikrolimano. And there is an upcoming renovation for the 117 room Pentelikon Athens hotel, before it joins the Curio Collection in 2026.
Growing a presence on the Greek islands
The group has a number of pipeline projects, across both the Greek mainland, and also several Greek islands, where the brands are building their presence as this part of the Mediterranean is now attracting a greater than ever number of international visitors.
On the island of Crete, for example, the 48 room Hilton Garden Inn Chania is well under way, ahead of a planned opening later in 2025. And the following year, it will be joined in the same destination by the new build Imperial Flair Chania Old Town, which is joining Hilton’s Curio Collection.
