The UAE is on the verge of breaking another record as construction progresses on Ciel Dubai Marina, set to become the world’s tallest hotel.
UAE-based developer The First Group is set to reshape Dubai’s skyline with the creation of a towering new hotel project in the Marina area. We find out more.
A hotel high in the sky
Skyscrapers have long defined cities, and when a new building is planned that will change the rhythm of the established skyline, it’s always cause for excitement. Cue the world’s tallest hotel on the horizon, Ciel Dubai Marina.
With its opening slated for the final quarter of 2022, this eagerly awaited new hotel will soar 360 metres into the sky, spread over a staggering 82 floors. Located in the high-end Dubai Marina district, the property will take full advantage of its prestigious location, views and surroundings.
Rob Burns, CEO of The First Group, said: “Ciel is a remarkable project that will become a landmark in its own right, further enhancing Dubai’s reputation as one of the world’s great cities and tourism destinations. The ambition and character evident in Ciel’s striking design reflects our unique approach to developing quality hotels that strive to set a new benchmark for upper-midscale accommodation.”
Architecture, awards and ambition
Ciel Dubai Marina has already been making waves in the UAE even though it isn’t due to welcome guests for another two years. The eye-wateringly tall tower is designed by multidisciplinary design firm NORR, and has been nominated for and won numerous prizes at the 2019 International Property Awards and the 2019-20 Dubai, Africa & Arabia Property Awards.
Inspired by the Japanese concept of Wabi-sabi, a philosophy rooted in the appreciation of the imperfect and impermanent beauty of objects in nature, the hotel’s interior will be elegant, natural and light-filled. Boasting 1,209 well-appointed units executed in a luxurious style, the hotel will also feature four restaurants, a state-of-the-art fitness centre and spa, and a mixture of guest rooms and private serviced residences.
The main highlight of the Ciel Dubai Marina will, of course, be the incredible rooftop terrace and viewing deck. Guests can lounge in the infinity pool in the sky, take in the unparalleled 360-degree panoramas from the glass-enclosed observation platform and eat in what may well prove to be the world’s highest restaurant.
