As the next phase in its $80m resort-wide transformation, JW Marriott Phoenix Desert Ridge Resort & Spa is developing AquaRidge WaterPark.

The $18m reimagination and expansion of the resort’s waterpark includes the renewal of existing areas and the creation of major new features.

An exciting reimagination

JW Marriott Phoenix Desert Ridge Resort & Spa, which is owned by a joint venture between Trinity Real Estate Investments LLC and institutional investors, has revealed details of its reimagined AquaRidge WaterPark. The expanded area will span an impressive 140,000 sq ft.

This transformation sees the enhancement of the site’s existing lazy river, an update to Wildlife Grove and the introduction of three new water slides to Havasu Playground. The brand-new Sedona Springs and adults-only Sky Island are to open late summer.

“We are very excited to welcome guests to AquaRidge WaterPark as part of our resort-wide $80 million transformation,” said General Manager, Paige Lund.

“Our intentional design and exclusive programming will offer our guests an entirely reimagined experience from the moment they enter AquaRidge WaterPark. The water park will offer surprises and delights around every corner, luxury accommodations including secluded areas for respite, and family-friendly activities that appeal to all types of travellers.”

Updates and new areas

At the new Havasu Playground, highlights include the enhanced Canyon Creek Lazy River, the lazy-river-side Canyon Creek Day Suites, the new active Splash Island family area and the new outdoor Havasu Bar & Bites food zone. Three new Splash Canyon Water Slides are to open mid summer: Gullywasher, The Drop and Little Eddy.

The site’s original Wildfire Grove has been completely refreshed. This space features two pools, a selection of Wildfire Cabanas, reservable lounge chairs and the Just A Splash pool bar.

Now, the tranquil Sedona Springs and exclusive adults-only Sky Island are to be unveiled later in the summer.

Sedona Springs will act as a luxurious sanctuary offering personalised concierge service, along with cabanas, daybeds and lounge chairs, a hot tub and stargazing area. Sky Island will feature an infinity edge plunge pool and hot tub, cabanas, lounge chairs, daybeds and stone fire pits, as well as space for weddings and other events.
