For Capella Hotel Group, 2025 will be a year marked by considerable growth, with four hotel openings already planned

Capella Hotel Group has announced four upcoming additions to its portfolio, due to launch during 2025.

The ambitious growth plans include new Capella hotels due to open in Taipei, Macau and Kyoto, plus an additional hotel under the Patina brand, coming on stream in April in Osaka, Japan. The company distinguishes the brands as Capella representing bespoke luxury, while Patina delivers guests a transformative luxury experience.

Setting new standards in Asia

The first of the new arrivals to open for guest reservations will be Capella Taipei, in the first quarter of 2025. The 86 room property will aim to deliver the atmosphere of a modern mansion, with relaxed luxury in the European-style neighbourhood of the city’s Dunhua North Road. Floor to ceiling windows will provide guests with a panoramic view across the city and to the mountains in the distance, while the hotel will feature no less than five dining options.

In the well established casino resort destination of Macau, the Capella at Galaxy Macau hotel will launch in the second quarter of 2025. Its 93 rooms will include sky villas, and suites, echoing the Portuguese history of the location.

Around the same time, Patina Osaka is due to launch. A bold architectural statement has been promised from designers Jun Mitsui & Associates and Strickland, who are working together on the plans for the 221 room hotel. Inspired by Osaka’s nickname of the city of water, the hotel will sit close to the historic Osaka castle, and across from another city landmark, Naniwanomiya-ato Park.

And later in 2025, a second opening in Japan is coming with the arrival of Capella Kyoto. With 89 rooms, the hotel will draw on traditional Japanese aesthetics in its interior, and in the relationship between inside and outside.

“With these openings, we’re expanding from eight properties to twelve by the end of 2025, with plans to double our portfolio by 2030,” said Cristiano Rinaldi, president of Capella Hotel Group. “Future projects include a branded residential development in Seoul and hotels in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and Tianjin, China.”

Coming to Saudi Arabia

During 2024, Capella has already announced several new hotel projects that have been added to its pipeline. These include a resort in Elanan, part of NEOM in Saudi Arabia. The 80 room project will feature a wellness retreat, and is expected to open in 2027. The following year, it will be joined by Capella Kenting, the group’s first resort in Taiwan. Partner Riant Capital will be delivering the 65 room property, boasting the largest hotel rooms in Taiwan.

Capella aims to set the pace not only for the quality of its hotels, but for innovating in other areas. In October 2024, the company announced it would start to accept Digital Payment Tokens at its flagship hotels in Singapore and the Maldives. Guests at these hotels can now pay using their preferred digital wallet, simply by scanning a QR code. Bitcoin, Tether and Ethereal will be accepted in payment, alongside traditional currencies.
