A reflection of its surroundings
The just-opened Perhentian Marriott Resort & Spa places guests on the northwest coast of Perhentian Kecil Island, which is easily accessible by ferry from Kuala Besut Jetty, an hour’s drive from Kota Bharu.
The resort draws inspiration from this coastline and the beauty of the South China Sea for its design, which minimises environmental impact in line with the area’s status as a marine park. A seamless transition has been created between the indoor and outdoor space, with natural elements, such as tree trunks, and decorative design details reflecting woven craft.

Connecting guests to the coastline
The resort is home to 200 deluxe rooms and 17 villas, which are all designed to follow the natural contour of the land and ensure unobstructed views. The Royal Villa spans 120 sq m, making it one of the largest pool suites on the island.
Wellness facilities here range from a 24-hour fitness centre and yoga deck with sea views to The Qi Forest Spa & Wellness, three outdoor pools and a Jacuzzi. Additional facilities span the Beautiful Terengganu Arts, Crafts & Cultural Centre, a kids’ and teens’ club and a dive centre making the most of the resort’s direct beach access.
Guests can dine at the all-day dining restaurant Dapur serving local and international favourites and the specialty restaurant Sekoci for a poolside dining experience. Locally infused cocktails are served in the Greatroom bar and lounge.
Events are hosted in a 551-sq-m pillarless ballroom, which is joined by a sea-facing pre-function area and outdoor terrace, as well as two additional function rooms equipped with the latest technology.
