An existing East London hotel is being converted into a Yotel property in April 2022 after being refurbished to introduce the brand’s signature design and technological innovations.

The fast-growing hotel group is further expanding its UK footprint with the addition of a well-located scheme in the capital.

A milestone for the brand

Yotel, which aims to provide a distinctive hospitality experience through its people, smart design and creative use of technology, has struck a deal to open Yotel London Shoreditch in April 2022. Following the rebranding of the former East London Hotel and a light refurbishment to incorporate the brand’s cutting-edge design and technological features, the property will become its fifth city centre hotel in the UK.

At the same time, Yotel London Shoreditch will also be the group’s fourth franchise property, second UK conversion and 19th hotel in operation across the world.

Hubert Viriot, CEO of Yotel, said: “As with Yotel Manchester, Yotel London Shoreditch contributes to the more than 1,200 keys in our UK portfolio and is a testament to the continuation of our hotel conversion strategy as well as our expansion plans in the UK and Europe, whether through franchise or hotel management agreements. We are looking forward to emulating this strategy in other cities around the world.”

Bringing the Yotel experience to East London

Yotel London Shoreditch will house 161 keys incorporating Yotel’s minimalistic design features, ranging from doubles and twins to family and interconnecting rooms. Guests will be able to check in using self-service stations and then use their own mobile devices as SmartKeys.

Ideal for both business and leisure travellers, the public areas within the property will include a restaurant, bar and coworking space. Yotel’s new site is conveniently located on Cambridge Heath Road, a short walk from Bethnal Green tube station.

The hotel is owned by Crestline Investors and Avelios Investors and is to be managed under franchise by Michels & Taylor.

Peter Hales, managing director of Michels & Taylor Hotel Management, said: “We are delighted to be running our first hotel under the Yotel brand. The innovation and quality of the brand will add significant value to the hotel’s operation, and we look forward to working closely with all the Yotel team in the coming years.”
