Wyndham’s Count On Us programme aims to build trust as the brand prepares for the ‘new normal’ after coronavirus.

Wyndham Hotels has announced the launch of its Count On Us programme, a scheme designed to build trust with key stakeholders by setting out strict protocols for hygiene and behaviour amid the Covid-19 crisis. We find out more.

Wyndham prepares for the future with Count On Us

Hotels groups across the globe are looking ahead to a new and uncertain future after coronavirus. Many of the preparations being undertaken involve implementing hygiene policies and social distancing measures, but Wyndham Hotels and Resorts, the world’s largest franchising hotel company, is going a step further with the launch of its Count On Us initiative.

The scheme is intended to build confidence with hotel owners, operators and guests, all of whom will be seeking a greater sense of security as they return to business. The main focus of the programme at the outset is to double down on health and safety policies across Wyndham-branded properties, with further actions down the line to involve securing supply chains and providing training approved by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

“We want the everyday traveller to know they can count on us to put their health and safety first,” said Geoff Ballotti, president and CEO, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts. “Over 90% of our hotels in the US today are open and welcoming essential business, government, healthcare and emergency responders every night.

“We salute these everyday heroes who are keeping our nation running. We know that people will also travel again for leisure and to see family and friends. And when they do, Wyndham will be ready to welcome them back.”

As part of the scheme, Wyndham will continue its partnership with Ecolab, an industry leader in the provision of disinfectants, to ensure that all of its properties are doused with Ecolab’s Environmental Protection Agency-approved products in guest rooms and common areas. The partnership will also see Ecolab send out over 2,000 trained staff members to assist hotels with implementing new cleaning regimes.

In addition, Wyndham will work with international suppliers to make sure that hotel staff have sufficient access to equipment such as face masks, hand sanitiser and disinfectant wipes. Wyndham is also a member of the Stay Safe Advisory Council and has developed a series of best practices for hotel sanitation. Last but not least, the group intends to make all of these efforts apparent and visible to guests, so they can trust that the hotel owner and staff are doing everything they can to ensure a safe and positive stay in a Wyndham property.
