Choice Hotels International has announced plans to expand its Ascend Collection soft brand in Canada, with six new hotels scheduled to open in Québec in early 2026. The properties are part of a multi-unit agreement and represent the first major growth move following the consolidation of Choice Hotels Canada.
The additions will increase the Ascend Collection portfolio in Canada by 20% and expand Choice Privileges redemption options in the country. The new hotels will strengthen the brand’s presence in Montréal and several resort destinations across Québec.

The six properties span urban, resort, and boutique offerings. Hotel Brossard in Brossard will feature 139 rooms, including suites with European chateau-inspired décor and select in-room fireplaces. In Orford, Hotel Cheribourg will offer 123 rooms along with jacuzzis, indoor and outdoor pools, a children’s playroom, and a mini farm.
Hotel du Domaine in Thetford Mines will include more than 100 rooms, lakeside chalets, and ready-to-camp pods set in the Appalachian Mountains. Hotel Montréal Metropolitan will add 92 rooms in Montréal, each with fully furnished kitchens, as well as an on-site Cuban restaurant.
La Cache du Lac Champlain in Venise-en-Québec will be a 56-room boutique hotel with lake views, a spa, and an 18-hole golf course. Manor Des Sables in Orford will bring 141 rooms with views of Mount Orford, indoor and outdoor pools, a spa, athletic amenities, and another 18-hole golf course.
Growth Strategy and Market Performance
Choice Hotels reported a 7% year-over-year increase in Canadian RevPAR in the third quarter, supporting its expansion plans. The Québec deal is led by Bing Zhao, a Choice Hotels franchisee since 2017 and a long-standing hotel developer in the province.
The company currently has more than 2,800 rooms in its Canadian development pipeline and plans to introduce additional brands next year, including Cambria Hotels, which will debut in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
Internationally, Choice Hotels expects high single-digit room growth this year, with more than 150,000 rooms now operating outside the U.S. Recent milestones include expansions in Africa, Australia, France, China, and Brazil.
