Wyndham Hotels & Resorts has opened its second Dolce branded resort in Italy, promising guests a stay on the island of Sicily that is steeped in history.
The opening is the result of a development agreement that sees Wyndham partnering with All in Italia Hotels & Resorts, with the pair intending to open up 20 hotels across Italy over the next decade. It will be the group’s seventh Italian hotel, as Wyndham looks to expand its European presence.
A destination steeped in history
The new Dolce by Wyndham Siracusa Monasteri Golf & Spa has 102 rooms, with a really special environment for guests. The property sits among fragrant citrus orchards just outside Siracusa, a UNESCO World Heritage city, and the property itself has its roots as a Roman villa, with elements later being a ninth century monastery, and later a Sicilian Masseria.
This combination of centuries-old structures have now evolved into a four star Italian resort, offering guests a stay in a destination with extensive grounds, a full scale golf course, and scores of orange and lemon trees. A spa and fitness centre awaits those for whom a Dolce stay is a chance to rebalance.
Food at the resort’s restaurant is inspired by Sicilian chef Mirko Previtera, who was Michelin trained with stints at renowned restaurants in the UK and France. Guests can look forward to a combination of the classic and the innovative, featuring bold Mediterranean tastes.
Aside from regular guest rooms, and the amenities expected at a four star hotel, the property also features a number of additional features to meet the needs of groups, and companies planning corporate getaways. Meeting rooms have a capacity for up to 200 people, while the hotel also features a ballroom with spectacular views across its grounds.
Indicative of its ambitions, Wyndham has launched five of its brands in Italy. Alongside Dolce, it has opened hotels under the Wyndham Garden, Ramada, Trademark Collection, and Registry Collection flags.
Wyndham bought the Dolce brand in 2015. It has since expanded, and today a portfolio of 17 properties cross Europe, and salect US destinations. Further afield, the flag has been planted in Brazil and Vietnam. Currently, there is one more hotel under development for the brand, in Fredericksburg, Texas. There, a 120 room hotel is being developed alongside a winery, creating a destination that will be ideal for events – and a must-visit hotel for wine lovers.
Expansion in Europe
Elsewhere in Europe, Wyndham has a number of pipeline projects across its brand portfolio. In Switzerland, it is nearing opening of HQ Montreux Hotel & Spa, a 155 room hotel that will be part of the Registry Collection. In Germany, Ramada Encore hotels are under construction in Frankfurt, and at Berlin airport. The group is also building Super 8 hotels in the same cities.
Also coming is a new Wyndham hotel in Moosburg, Austria. The 250 room luxury new build is expected to be ready to open in 2027.
