New urban lifestyle hub
Zaria Court Hotel will be part of Zaria Court, an urban lifestyle hub including food and beverage outlets, an outdoor amphitheatre, retail, and a sports complex.
Zaria Court will be located in Kigali, Rwanda’s capital and largest city.
The 2.4ha Zaria Court was inspired by Toronto Raptors president Masai Ujiri. It will be the first of a series of hubs for sports, and social and cultural gatherings set to open in Africa over the next five years.
Nairobi, Accra, Dakar, Lagos and Johannesburg are the next cities due to receive an urban lifestyle hub. Mr Urjiri, a global philanthropist, has championed measures aimed at improving African economies and communities.
Mr Urjiri said of the development: “Sports infrastructure is a critical infrastructure for building vibrant economies. Zaria Court is a place where people will come together to convene, compete and celebrate.”
Groundbreaking has already taken place at the 2.4-hectare site, with the ceremony attended by Rwanda’s president, Paul Kagame.
Aleph takes over management duties
The hotel will open in Q2 of 2025 and will be managed by Dubai-based Aleph Hospitality.
The four-star hotel will include 80 rooms and suites, alongside a restaurant, a rooftop bar and a sports bar.
Zaria Court Hotel will also include a range of amenities such as co-working spaces, meeting facilities, a members’ club and a gym.
Aleph Hospitality will manage the hotel by applying sustainable practices and ensuring service is delivered by local teams.
This will be the hospitality group’s second hotel in Kigali. The firm’s first site in the East African nation’s capital is a double development containing the 200-key MGallery Kigali and the 58-key boutique Century Park Hotel and Residences, both due in 2025.
Aleph Hospitality founder and managing director Bani Haddad said: “We are excited to be a project partner with Zaria Court and to be part of this coordinated focus on community, hospitality, sports and culture in Rwanda, one of the fastest-developing countries in Africa.”
