Our stunning Project of the Week is Accor brand MGallery’s eco-chic resort rising within the jungle in Tulum, Mexico.

Mayaliah Tulum Hotel & Residences – MGallery will house 45 bespoke hotel guest rooms and 95 branded private residences among tropical greenery, with the complex celebrating the millennia-old rhythm of local life.

Tulum debut

The distinctive boutique property is being brought to life thanks to a deal between Accor and Inmobilia, a leading premium real estate developer in southern Mexico.

Mayaliah Tulum Hotel & Residences – MGallery will in fact mark Accor’s Tulum debut.

Natural design

Mexican firm Arkham Projects is leading the architecture, while compatriot firm Filipao Nunes Arquitectos has been tasked with the experience and interior design.

The resort’s design reflects the ever-changing and rejuvenating face of nature in the Caribbean coastline site to the east of the Yucatán Peninsula. The vision is inspired by the tropical flora and fauna of the destination with all aspects of the property carefully planned with biophilic design principles in mind.

Ever-growing plants and rippling water features will envelope the exterior and interiors will be adorned with locally crafted furnishings inspired by natural elements, creating a luxurious jungle sanctuary.

Mayan inspiration

Offered experiences will draw upon the spirit of the destination, inspired by the Mayan culture and local community.

Influenced by the unique stories and personality of the hotel, Mayaliah Tulum will offer several elevated dining experiences at four restaurants and bars that will showcase Mexican cuisine and inventive cocktails that highlight local ingredients.

The main dining destination will be Jungle Lounge and Mayan Grille, while pool bar and grill, Pool Oasis, will serve snacks. A speciality rooftop bar and kitchen will enable guests to enjoy local flavours outdoors, surrounded by jungle and sea sounds. Furthermore, a juice bar will be located next to the onsite gym to allow exercise enthusiasts to sup a fresh drink after their workout.

Relaxing environment

With a holistic approach to health and wellbeing, Mayaliah Tulum will also have adult and family pools, a spa and fitness centre offering luxurious treatments.

Yoga facilities will be provided, while hammocks will be available for guests to relax in.

Local art and market

Adding to the vibrant artistic and cultural community of Tulum, the property will have a distinct dedicated space for indoor and outdoor art exhibitions.

The complex will also feature a Tulum-inspired market, bringing together local vendors with a selection of one-of-a-kind creations and entertainment.

Resident facilities

Mayaliah Tulum’s branded residence owners will enjoy access to all hotel amenities along with an exclusive owner’s lounge, a relaxing pool and coworking space.

The property will also exceed local energy efficiency and sustainable building guidelines, in accordance with Accor’s established global commitments to the environment, and will be EDGE Certified.

Project timeframe

The project was first announced at the beginning of 2022, with 2024 stated as the completion window.

Hotel construction started at the start of this year, and the residences are due to complete in June.
