Work is progressing well on Hyatt Hotels Corporation’s third UK property under the Regency brand, and the ambitious project looks set to make the most of its stunning waterfront location.

Hyatt Regency Edinburgh Marina will start welcoming guests from 2021, offering around 187 rooms and 100 apartments. We find out more about this eagerly awaited project.

A bold new hospitality venture

Hyatt Regency Edinburgh Marina is on course to bring something new to Edinburgh’s congested hospitality scene. Designed by Wilson + Gunn Architects from Glasgow, the hotel will combine cutting-edge facilities with modern, creative design.

On top of the guest rooms and apartments, the property will include a 3,048 sq m conference and banquet centre, as well as a restaurant and bar. A state-of-the-art wellness centre, featuring an indoor spa pool, fitness classes and therapies administered via luxury treatment rooms, will complete the offering.

“I am thrilled that Hyatt is announcing plans for the first Hyatt hotel in Edinburgh, Scotland, as part of the exciting new Edinburgh Marina development,” said Guido Fredrich, regional vice president development Europe at Hyatt, speaking when the project was first unveiled in November 2018. “Edinburgh Marina is the perfect foundation for us to launch our brand in Scotland, opening a new era for Hyatt and creating a great new tourism opportunity for Edinburgh.”

“This is great news for the city of Edinburgh and a huge boost to its tourism industry,” added Hugh Taylor of Michels & Taylor, who advised the developer. “Hyatt is a highly regarded international hotelier and is a perfect fit for this upscale waterfront development.”

Edinburgh’s new lifestyle hub

The new Hyatt Regency property will sit within the larger Edinburgh Marina regeneration scheme, occupying prime real estate in front of the full-service marina with its 427 berths. Apartments suitable for families and young professionals, alongside luxury dockside retirement living, will also form part of the new marina project.

In addition, the site is only four kilometres from the city centre and a 15-minute drive from Edinburgh Airport, making it an attractive prospective for both locals and visitors to the city looking for a more contemporary take on traditional Scottish hospitality in beautiful surroundings.

Hyatt Regency offers a full range of services and dining options tailored to the needs of leisure guests, business travellers and conventions of all sizes.
