Marriott makes major moves in Luxembourg

Marriott International has made a strong debut in Luxembourg this year, with one hotel recently opened and another set to open by the end of the year.

Moxy Luxembourg Airport opened on September 3, with 129 rooms and public spaces located close to the country’s single international airport terminal.

Located in the Skypark Business Center, the hotel is connected directly to Luxembourg Airport via an indoor walkway from the Center.

The property is under Marriott’s Moxy brand, in its Select portfolio. The brand is known for its youthful target market, use of social spaces, and dynamic food and beverage facilities.

Luxembourg Marriott Hotel Alfa, located across from the main train station, will blend modern amenities with art deco design and revive the famous Brasserie Alfa.

The hotel, Marriott’s second offering in the European country, will be located across from the main train station in Luxembourg City and close to some of the country’s major tourist attractions.

Expected to open in Q4 2024, the 153-key property will also revive the city’s famed Brasserie Alfa. Other facilities will include a fully equipped gym and five meeting rooms.

Alexandra Goguet, Vice President of Development, France and Benelux, Marriott International commented: “With the entry of Marriott International into Luxembourg, we are thrilled to offer our Marriott Bonvoy members and travellers a new market with exciting travel experiences.

“Luxembourg has a lot to offer and is the perfect location for the openings of these two hotels, each situated in prime locations. We look forward to welcoming our first guests and are excited about the potential to open more hotels in Luxembourg in the future.”

Luxembourg is one of Europe’s smallest countries, located between Belgium, France, and Germany.

It has experienced a boom in hotel supply over the last two years, and this is expected to increase in the years to come. THP’s database currently has multiple projects in Luxembourg listed, including a mixture of large chain hotel projects and independent hotels.

The two properties are Marriott’s first in the country, and the American multinational has stated it has plans to open more in the future.
