Staying on track: Iconic Hotels will be ready to open another Abode Hotel soon, this time on the South Coast of NSW.
Iconic Hotels is confident that its newest Abode property on NSW’s South Coast will open in March 2020 as planned.
We find out more about the property and why it’s important for the local community.
Rebuilding after a catastrophe
Now that the harrowing bushfires have left NSW’s South Coast behind, the region is slowly rebuilding. Its tourism sector received a boost when Iconic Hotels announced that its first coastal offering will open at Malua Bay next month, as previously planned.
The Abode Malua Bay will mark the seventh property to join the Abode Hotels portfolio, and ninth hotel overall for Iconic Hotels, an independent Australian hotel and hospitality provider.
The property’s arrival comes at a critical time for the South Coast community. Local businesses and families impacted by the recent catastrophic bushfires are working on rebuilding their towns and livelihoods and extra tourism dollars are welcome to support the effort.
Even before the hotel opened, it already earned an important place in the lives of locals as many residents of Malua Bay took shelter at the hotel site, when the fires were at their worst.
Iconic Hotels General Manager Rien Donkin said that Abode Hotels was committed to contributing to the regrowth and regeneration of the greater South Coast region.
The ideal beachfront getaway
Set on the south coast of New South Wales, Australia, the Abode Malua Bay will offer guests 52 classy apartment-style rooms. The facilities will be ideal for leisure travellers, groups and long-stay guests.
Set just metres away from the beachfront of Malua Bay, the hotel gives guests immediate access to the ocean, nature walks and other important cultural landmarks along Australia’s south coast.
“Abode Malua Bay offers all the inclusions our guests are familiar with, in a premium beachfront location,” Mr Donkin said.
“Just metres from Malua Bay Beach, the hotel offers unrivalled ocean views and will cater predominantly for leisure guests. Offering a complete guest experience, Abode Malua Bay is bike-, surfboard- and pet-friendly, with all rooms featuring kitchenettes and washer/dryer facilities.”
He added the opening would be a milestone for the Abode Hotels brand, as it extended the portfolio’s existing accommodation footprint outside the Canberra region.
“The addition of Abode Malua Bay to the hotel portfolio is highly anticipated by our existing guests seeking a seaside stay and further diversifies our offering for new domestic and international visitors,” he said.
“As part of the Geocon Group, Iconic Hotels is pleased to bring another high-quality development to the market to support jobs and the economy in Canberra and the region.”
