A first for the brand, Ennismore is launching an all-inclusive resort under its SLS brand in Cancun, Mexico.

Ennismore, the lifestyle hotel division of global group Accor, has announced plans to launch its first all-inclusive resort in the Americas.

SLS Playa Mujeres in Cancun, Mexico, promises to give guests a new take on the all-inclusive offering, with a clear touch of luxury. The project, which will open in November 2024, is the brand’s first foray into a space that has become increasingly popular following the pandemic.

Setting new resort standards

Construction is already well under way on the 498 room beachside project on the coast of Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula. Rooms are being created in 16 different categories, to meet the needs of a wide variety of hotel guests. These range from the basic 50 sq m Delight guest room, to a substantial three bedroom family sized suite, named The Envy. For those seeking an elevated luxury experience, the Elite room category will deliver a VIP experience that will include special dining and entertainment experiences, plus further benefits and amenities.

The property will feature no less than 18 restaurant and bar concepts, bringing together brands such as Fi’lia, Cleo and Privilege that are already a successful part of other SLS hotels. In addition, there will be an outdoor theatre, cinema, spa and wellness centre, kids’ zone and extensive workout facilities. For businesses that want to craft a corporate gathering around a leisurely SLS resort stay, there are also flexible workrooms and event spaces.

For those looking to enjoy the great outdoors, the gated beach destination of Playa Mujeres has white sandy beaches, a tropical rainforest environment, and is close to the Great Mayan Reef, for those interested in diving and exploring underwater.

Global all-inclusive offerings

Ennismore is developing its ALL Inclusive Collection around the world, currently featuring more than 35 resorts and challenging accepted expectations of the resort where everything is included in the price. The group’s Rixos brand, with its long all-inclusive experience, has inspired the addition of new brands to the all-inclusive concept. Each resort aims to deliver exceptional quality, with great food and drink, activities and entertainment, wherever guests choose to stay in the portfolio.

The SLS brand is still a relatively rare feature in the Ennismore portfolio, with currently just seven properties operating. These include locations such as Miami, Dubai and the Bahamas. A further five SLS hotels and resorts have been signed and are in development. These include SLS Barcelona, the brand’s European flagship, due to open in late 2024. During 2025, the 111 room SLS Bahia Beach in Cancun will join the portfolio, along with SLS Red Sea in Saudi Arabia.

Looking further ahead, the 235 room SLS Scottsdale will launch in 2026, while a 2027 opening is planned in Uruguay with SLS Punta del Este. SLS is also expanding in the growing branded residences market. Upcoming developments include a 33 unit project in Madrid, due to launch in 2025, and SLS Residences at the Palm Jumeirah in Dubai, expected to open in 2026.
