Hilton is celebrating as its DoubleTree by Hilton passes two significant growth milestones, reaching its 700th hotel opening, and growing into its 60th country market.
During the last 12 months, the brand saw more than 40 hotels added to its burgeoning portfolio. These included openings around the Mediterranean in Nice, and a debut in Malta with a resort property in St Paul’s Bay. And new market entries included Laos and the Azores Islands.
Expanding into new countries
The brand’s strong growth momentum is set to continue adding new hotels over the coming months, with over 240 hotels signed into the DoubleTree pipeline. These will, say Hilton, include nine more new country launches for the brand.
In EMEA – Europe, the Middle East and Africa – there are currently more than 150 DoubleTree hotels open and trading. Upcoming additions include the DoubleTree by Hilton Mangroovy El Gouna Resort, which will be the second resort property in Egypt.
Before the end of 2025, the DoubleTree by Hilton Jeddah King Abdullah Square will open in Saudi Arabia, with its 250 rooms in a multi-storey tower offering great views across the city. And in Morocco, the upcoming opening will be named DoubleTree by Hilton Casablanca City Centre.
In Northern Ireland, construction is under way on the DoubleTree by Hilton Derry-Londonderry, while the refurbishment of a property in Rotterdam will shortly be completed, allowing for the opening of DoubleTree by Hilton Rotterdam Centre. Other European projects include DoubleTree by Hilton Brasov City Centre in Romania, a hotel at Lisbon airport and one in Naples, Italy.
India is a key growth market for DoubleTree, with around seven projects under construction, or in planning ahead of development starting. These include hotels in Amritsar, Chandigarh, Nagpur and Wakad in Pune, which are all coming out of the ground. They will be followed by hotels in Bhopal, Kochi and Siliguri.
And the brand is growing fast in China. There, DoubleTree hotels will open shortly in Changsha, Guang’an, Shenzhen Bay, Yanji and Zhengzhou.
Opportunities from conversions
As well as new developments, DoubleTree is also one of Hilton’s brands that lends itself well to conversions, allowing hotel owners to benefit by switching their property to the Hilton global system, guaranteeing an uplift in marketing support, and more guest bookings over time. DoubleTree, and Hilton’s new Spark brand, accounted for many of the conversions that took place in the first quarter of 2025, when conversions accounted for around 40% of Hilton’s openings.
“DoubleTree makes for an ideal conversion brand as it offers the best of both worlds – bespoke design, strong global recognition and proven ability to adapt to a wide range of market needs,” said Shawn McAteer, DoubleTree brand leader. “The brand is a smart choice for owners looking to elevate their guest offerings with the power of the Hilton engine behind them.”
