Cycas to manage trio of London properties
by Lauren Jade Hill | 10 Nov 2021 | Portfolio
Hotel management company Cycas Hospitality has signed a deal with London Town Group to operate two Mercure-branded hotels and one Hotel Indigo scheme in the UK capital.
One of Europe’s biggest hotel management companies is ramping up its UK presence.
Cycas increases exposure to the London market
Cycas Hospitality and London Town Group have signed a strategic partnership that’ll see the former run the 72-room Mercure London Hyde Park, 86-key Mercure London Paddington and 64-room Hotel Indigo London Paddington.
Mercure London Hyde Park is situated within a grade II-listed building and benefits from having recently completed a multimillion-pound refurbishment. Mercure London Paddington, by contrast, is set to embark upon a renovation programme next year, which involves updating its ground-floor F&B facilities and converting its top floor into a bar.
Joining these two Accor hotels, Hotel Indigo London Paddington becomes Cycas’ seventh IHG-branded property.
A winning team
The deal brings Cycas’ footprint to eight hotels in London and 18 properties across the UK. It’s now opened or taken over 17 hotels in the past 12 months, despite the challenges arising from the Covid19 pandemic.
Koolesh Shah, founder of London Town Group, said: “As our business diversifies and grows, I felt now was the time to bring onboard a recognised industry leader in hotel operations to partner on the transformation journey of our hotels. We’ve always prided ourselves on our collection of leading branded-boutique hotels, and we’re confident that Cycas’ track record in delivering the highest hospitality standards will ensure we can continue to give our guests the best possible experience.”
Matt Luscombe, chief executive officer at Cycas Hospitality, added: “I’ve known and admired Koolesh and his team for many years, since he opened the first Hotel Indigo outside of North America in 2009. Over the last decade, London Town Group has been synonymous with commercial and operational excellence.”
“With their central locations and exceptional transport links, these three hotels are ideally positioned to capitalise on the recovery in business and leisure travel. We’re proud and excited to begin this partnership together.”
Cycas has picked Tanja Furby to serve as cluster general manager for all three hotels.
