Taking shape in Glendale, Vai Resort will encompass 1,100 keys and is billed as ‘a live music venue with rooms’.
Desert elegance
The US$1 billion resort’s concept is to create an immersive experience across its 60-acre area that showcases a fusion of elegance and innovation while celebrating the grandeur of the desert.
Vai Global Development, led by hospitality entrepreneur Grant Fisher, is the driving force behind the project, with Vai Resort’s aesthetic viewpoint drawing inspiration from the surrounding landscape, incorporating rugged textures, vibrant hues, and organic forms.
Tower quartet
The philosophy of the property revolves around creating an experiential environment that demonstrates attention to detail, with every design element carefully crafted in each tower and room.
The four distinct hotel towers comprise the 328-key Amphitheater, which offers integrated 160 hotel rooms that provide a viewing experience of the onsite Vai Amphitheater – a state-of-the-art entertainment venue set against a five-acre oasis backdrop; Cadence, a ultra luxury tranquil retreat featuring music-inspired elements that stimulate creativity and relaxation; Rhythm: a desert oasis, where song lyrics are inscribed, inviting guests to immerse themselves in a world of luxury; and Vai Villas, spacious accommodations that pay tribute to entertainment venues worldwide, with premium designer rooms and suites including exclusive, infinity-edge rooftop pools.
Music infusion
Vai Resort is also collaborating with design firms such as Davis Ink, DH Companies, Gensler, and KTGY + Simeone Deary.
Scott Hillig, the destination’s president of design and development, commented: “We have infused a musical theme throughout the resort, where every corner resonates with rhythm and harmony. The architecture and interior design strike a chord, seamlessly blending elegant notes with unexpected surprises. It’s an integrated experience where guests can feel the energy of the music in every heartbeat of the hotel.”
Destination within a destination
A highlight of the resort will be Konos Island, a ‘destination within a destination’, namely a 52,000 sq ft island oasis inspired by Mykonos, Greece, and Tulum, Mexico.
Designed to become the epicentre of fun for the entire resort, Konos Island will be the largest man-made party island in the US, featuring luxury daybeds and cabanas, Mediterranean cuisine and VIP bottle service.
Diverse dining
Vai Resort will host 12 distinctive restaurants, each offering cutting-edge culinary experiences, from Mediterranean to Italian to Asian fusion and a modern steakhouse.
Plus there will be 10 bar and lounge destinations across the sprawling property.
Wellness offerings
Guests seeking relaxation will be able to visit an onsite spa with globally inspired treatments.
The resort’s gym will boast the latest exercise equipment, while there will also be space for yoga practice.
Attractions and retail
Furthermore, Vai will feature attractions for thrill-seekers, such as a tethered hot air balloon that can transport a maximum of 30 guests up over the resort and the 130-ft-high Konos Sky Bar with panoramic views.
Guests can also visit Mattel Adventure Park as part of the resort, with two Hot Wheels-themed rollercoasters, go-karts, a Thomas & Friends treasure hunt journey and The Barbie Beach House.
Shopping offerings will comprise 80,000 sq ft of approximately 40 luxury retail destinations, alongside curated art galleries and one-of-kind experiential activations.
Global perspective
Grant Fisher, president and CEO of Vai Global Development, said: “Travelling has always been a passion of mine, and it’s what inspired me to dream big. Vai Resort was born from my experiences exploring different parts of the world and wanting to bring this global perspective to my backyard.
“Our mission is to redefine the luxury hospitality experience while incorporating the thrill of live entertainment. Vai is a one-of-a-kind destination set to exceed all expectations and leave a lasting impression on our guests.”
