Accor has opened its 100th hotel in Spain, as it looks to underline its leadership position in Europe, across more segments of the hospitality space.
The property marking the move into three figures for the portfolio is the Ibis Styles Madrid Airport Valdebebas. And it is a hotel with something of an impact, being the largest Ibis branded property in Iberia, featuring no less than 260 rooms.
A well located city hotel
Amenities include a rooftop pool, while being an airport hotel, it features a restaurant with round the clock snack bar. As well as proximity to the airport, the hotel will also be convenient for visitors to the nearby IFEMA international congress centre. Interiors have been styled taking inspiration from the novel Alice in Wonderland.
“Our portfolio of brands reflects the breadth of opportunities we see in this dynamic market, not just in established hotspots, but also in many vibrant and emerging destinations,” said Karelle Lamouche, chief operating officer at Accor for Europe and North Africa. “The potential of the hospitality sector in Spain is huge and we believe this is just the beginning of what can be achieved.”
Also joining the portfolio in recent months is the Fairmont La Hacienda Costa del Sol. A combination of contemporary styling with a mix of Andalusian themes, the hotel has 153 rooms and 47 private villas, located on the Mediterranean coast of Cadiz. And in the city of Barcelona, the 471 roomed SLS Barcelona has just opened, occupying one of the last waterside sites in Port Forum.
In Valencia, the latest addition to the Novotel brand family has arrived. The Novotel Valencia Lavant has 370 rooms in an eleven storey block, with a rooftop pool, bar and terrace set over two levels.
The Ibis brand family continues to play an important role in the coverage of the Accor group in the country. Aside from the Madrid airport hotel, another Ibis Styles has just opened in Santander. Hotel guests can access the city centre by walking through lush gardens.
Also preparing to launch is the Ibis Budget Madrid Albasanz, a 99 room new build close to the city’s Metropolitan Stadium. As is normal for the value-led brand, rooms are a mix of single, double and triple rooms, with the signature extra bunk bed ideal for families.
Nearing completion is another Ibis hotel in the same city, Ibis Madrid Norte Las Tablas. With 148 rooms spread over five storeys, this hotel will serve visitors to the north of the city.
Bringing the Greet brand to Spain
And coming later in 2025 will be the first Greet branded hotel in Spain. The brand’s ethos is cirularity, convenience and affordability, with an interior promising decor and furniture made from repurposed materials.
Looking further ahead, Accor has plans to expand its presence in Malaga, adding to the existing Ibis in the city. And an Ibis Styles is planned for Zestoa, in the north of the country. And in Madrid, another brand will be arriving in 2027, with the completion of Banyan Tree Padilla Madrid Residences.
