Project Spotlight: The Green Hotel, Dublin
Venue: The Pen & Player Bar

Spires Art is proud to have contributed significantly to the creation of The Pen & Player, an elegant new cocktail bar located within The Green Hotel on Harcourt Street, part of the prestigious O’Callaghan Collection. This sophisticated venue seamlessly blends heritage architecture with contemporary aesthetics, offering a unique hospitality experience in Dublin. We provided bespoke artwork specifically tailored to enhance this transformative space.

Georgian Charm Meets Contemporary Style

Designed by award-winning studio 21 Spaces, The Pen & Player immerses guests from the moment they enter. The interior masterfully combines original Georgian detailing with modern flair, featuring luxurious textures, dramatic lighting, and a rich palette of burgundy, terracotta, and oxblood. Italian Murano glass chandeliers cast warm light over fluted velvet chairs, marble-topped tables, and antique brass accents, creating an intimate, cinematic atmosphere.

Spires Art was commissioned to create custom artwork that elevated this carefully curated aesthetic. Drawing from our extensive experience in luxury hospitality art consultancy, we focused on complementing the bold, expressive wallpaper with equally compelling art pieces, enhancing both atmosphere and storytelling.

Bespoke Artwork: Enhancing the Atmosphere

The art selected for The Pen & Player isn’t merely decorative; it’s narrative-driven, adding sophistication and depth to the venue. Each framed artwork, illuminated by warm lighting, invites guests to engage with the space more intimately. Our collection includes abstract figurative works, stylised sketches, and vintage-inspired portraiture, all carefully chosen to complement the rich colour scheme and theatrical vibe.

These bespoke pieces collectively form a visual story celebrating the golden age of literature, art, and social interaction, turning the interior into more than just a bar—it’s an experience.

A Visionary Collaboration

The successful collaboration between Spires Art, 21 Spaces, and the O’Callaghan Collection was founded on a shared vision: creating a venue that provides an immersive experience rather than simply serving as a location. This project highlights the benefit of integrating art consultancy early in the design process, allowing creative synergy across all visual components. Our involvement demonstrates our commitment to intentional and thoughtful design, where artwork enhances ambiance harmoniously
