£37.5m Liverpool hotel to be built by McAleer & Rushe

Design-and-build construction company McAleer & Rushe has been named as the contractor on a 260-room development earmarked for a prominent location in one of the UK’s biggest cities.
Proposals to create a new hotel in Liverpool have taken a major step forward.
A landmark hotel
McAleer & Rushe has been appointed contractor on the £37.5 million Maldron Hotel Liverpool scheme at the junction of Liver Street and Park Lane, near the Liverpool One shopping centre. Construction work is set to begin in early 2022 and the hotel is expected to open in autumn 2023.
The 260-key Maldron-branded property has been pre-let to Dalata Hotel Group on a 35-year lease, following an agreement between Valorem Investment Partners and Aviva Investors that Aviva would forward-fund the development on behalf of the Aviva Linked Property Fund.
The property’s design is being overseen by delivery architects Urban Innovations, with the aim of achieving a BREEAM Very Good rating. A nine-storey building configured to wrap around a bright internal courtyard, it’ll feature a high-quality façade made up of brickwork, glazing, and solid and perforated metal panels.
A significant development for Liverpool
On completion, Maldron Hotel Liverpool will house 260 guestrooms, along with amenities including a ground-floor restaurant and bar, a first-floor suite of meeting rooms and fitness facilities.
Mark Diamond, senior director of McAleer & Rushe, said: “We are delighted to be working with experienced industry partners Valorem, Aviva Investors and the Dalata Hotel Group on the design and build of this important new hotel in Liverpool. It is a credit to the skill, expertise and reliability within the McAleer & Rushe team that we have been appointed to deliver this full turnkey project, of the highest quality, and we look forward to working closely with all partners as construction commences early next year.”
Shane Casserly, corporate development director of Dalata Hotel Group, added: “We are delighted to see confirmation of the funding for this development and the appointment of McAleer & Rushe as the building contractor.”
This Liverpool scheme represents the ninth hotel that McAleer & Rushe will build for Dalata – four are currently under construction in Manchester, Glasgow, Bristol and Dublin.
