The long-term cooperation between premium hotel operator Valamar Riviera and Daikin is a good example of a successful partnership delivering total HVAC-R solutions for hotels.

As a leading manufacturer of HVAC-R systems, Daikin is at the forefront of technology. Far from concentrating solely on temperature control, our engineers and designers are constantly working to improve the ‘total solutions’ for key market sectors such as the hotel industry, offering cooling, heating, hot water, ventilation and refrigeration with a single point of contact.

The long-term cooperation between premium hotel operator Valamar Riviera and Daikin is a good example of a successful partnership delivering total HVAC-R solutions for hotels.

Valamar Riviera is Croatia’s leading tourism company operating hotels, resorts and camping resorts in prime destinations in Istria on the islands of Krk, Rab and Hvar, in Makarska, Dubrovnik, but also in Austria in Obertauern.

The Valamar Collection Dubrovnik President Hotel 5* was designed by the American architect Edward Durell Stone. Opened in 1976, it was the only “deluxe” hotel at the time in the region and for sure the only one equipped with a panoramic lift. The hotel was completely renovated and expanded in 2014.

Today the Valamar Collection Dubrovnik President Hotel complex consists of 292 accommodation units. All rooms have a balcony and sea view.

The reconstruction of the HVAC installation was realised by installing a Daikin VRV IV and VRV Heat Recovery solution for the common areas of the hotel and a fan coil solution for the accommodation units. Also a major part of the ventilation system was realised with VKM ventilation units type (23 units in total) to ensure optimal comfort and fresh air supply.

In another renovation phase in 2020, the existing heat pumps were replaced with new ones. A highlight of this reconstruction was the installation of a new Daikin air to water multipurpose 4-pipe heat pump EWYD-4Z, a highly efficient solution with full inverter technology which enables independent and simultaneous cooling and heating all year round.

In addition a remote monitoring system for chillers and heat pumps (“Daikin On Site” (DOS)) was installed. This allows to improve the efficiency and reliability of the HVAC-R system by managing products and installations remotely – a cost-efficient way to increase the security, uptime and reliability of your installation. The continuous monitoring and analysis of a system’s operating data is key to ensure efficient operation, cutting operating and maintenance costs and optimizing user comfort.

Valamar and Daikin have had a long-standing cooperation. A shared focus in terms of customer needs, environmental consciousness, energy efficiency, openness for innovation and digitalisation in business are what have cemented this partnership and driving it towards new possibilities.
