The Ruby Group has entered the Scandinavian market by securing its first project in the region – a 187-key hotel in Stockholm, Sweden.

Ruby’s upcoming Stockholm hotel will combine accommodation built on the brand’s Lean Luxury philosophy with public areas and a restaurant making it a new hotspot for the city.

Entry to Scandinavia

Expected to open in spring 2026, this new Ruby Hotel will provide an exciting new accommodation option at the heart of Stockholm’s Kungsholmen island. The Ruby Group is embarking on this project in partnership with the real estate company, Alecta Fastigheter.

“We are very excited to enter the Scandinavian market with this unique project and bring our Lean Luxury philosophy to Stockholm”, said Elena Guenther-Jakobs, Senior Manager Development at Ruby.

“By designing and building modularly, centralising more and automating consistently behind the scenes, we are making luxurious and unique hotel experiences affordable for our guests, while creating a leaner and more adaptable cost structure, which in turn means lower risks for our property partners.”

“Entering the Swedish market marks a significant milestone for us. We are thankful for our partner Alecta Fastigheter’s trust and great cooperation. Our focus is now on growth and establishing a strong presence in Sweden and across Scandinavia.”

A new social hub

The forthcoming hotel will take over a former office space with ground-level public areas, including a cafe and bar, and an 11th-floor restaurant, which is to be managed by a third-party restaurant operator. The conversion is being carried out under the management of Alecta Fastigheter, with interior design by Ruby’s own design team.

With the hotel’s Kungsholmen location, close to Fridhemsplan underground station, guests will have excellent access to public transportation including an express airport link. A number of tourist attractions are nearby, along with abundant dining options and areas of greenery.

Commenting on the plans, Helena Ågren, Business Manager of Urban Development at Alecta Fastigheter, said: “We are proud and thrilled that Ruby Hotels has selected Alecta Fastigheter and our premises as their entry point into the Scandinavian market.”

“With this collaboration, the selection of hotels in Stockholm becomes even more appealing for guests. Together with Ruby, we have the opportunity to pioneer something completely new in Kungsholmen, an emerging area in Stockholm.”
