Our latest Project of the Week at THP.News takes us to Clear Water Bay in China, where Minor Hotels has announced the development of Anantara Clear Water Bay Sanya Resort, a 90-key luxury property set to open in October 2027.
Located along a 12-kilometer (7.5-mile) stretch of stunning white sand, this new luxury resort is being developed through a partnership between Funyard Minor and Chongqing Yuanchu Luquan Cultural Tourism Group. The project promises a serene beachfront escape infused with Anantara’s signature elegance and cultural richness.
A seaside sanctuary of style and tradition
Situated in Lingshui Li Autonomous County on Hainan’s southeastern coast—just 35 kilometers from Sanya city center—Anantara Clear Water Bay Sanya Resort will make the most of the region’s year-round tropical climate and natural beauty to offer a destination any guest won’t want to miss. The surrounding area, home to the Li ethnic group, invites guests to explore a unique cultural tapestry through traditional handicrafts, bamboo weaving, local music, and colorful festivals.
Each of the 90 guest rooms and suites, ranging from 60 to 240 square meters (646 to 2,583 square feet), will be designed for peaceful immersion in the environment. Guests can look forward to a blend of leisure, wellness, and culinary experiences, including the following:
- Anantara Spa and wellness center for rejuvenation
- Outdoor swimming pool nestled in lush surroundings
- Specialty restaurants and an all-day dining venue featuring local and international cuisine
- 400-square-meter banquet hall and 350-square-meter outdoor lawn for events and celebrations
- Authentic cultural experiences like traditional crafts and island festivals
This new opening will join Minor Hotels’ growing presence in China, where the group currently operates four properties and has ambitious plans to grow to 15 properties within the next three years. Anantara Clear Water Bay Sanya Resort will mark a significant step in that expansion, combining luxury hospitality with a deep connection to Hainan’s coastal charm.
