This is the headline of interihotel BCN23 which, through a proposal of five challenging themes, invites hotel and restaurant design professionals to think deeply and take action in order to create successful projects and move towards a better future for the sector:
“Wonderful business” focuses on interior design and customer experience, “Inside Out” focuses on the design of indoor spaces that promote emotional and physical well-being, “Regenerative Hospitality” addresses the need to go beyond sustainability by regenerating local ecosystems, “New Materiality” focuses on the search for more sustainable and environmentally friendly materials and, finally, “Brightech” explores how the integration of artificial intelligence will affect the design industry in general and the hospitality sector in particular.
AMBIT’s Interiors Living Lab is materialised at interihotel in physical Concept Rooms and in virtual reality. These spaces are used to analyse usability, user interaction with objects and their emotional response to interior design, using neuromarketing techniques. The aim is to gather new knowledge on how to respond, from the interior design point of view, to the needs of the new customer profiles and, therefore, to plan what hospitality spaces will be like for the new travellers in the future.
More than 90 speakers from over 10 countries will take part in conferences, round tables and workshops. The conference programme will feature as keynote speakers, among others, the National Architecture Award 2021, Carme Pinós (Estudio Carme Pinós), Luis Gil and Lorenzo Gil (Plantea Estudio), Felipe Turell (Proyectos Conscientes), Isern Serra (Isern Serra), Manuel Fernández (Azulik), Caroline Blanco (Atelier Luma) and Cecilia Tham (Futurity Systems).
I attracts more than 2,000 professionals with hospitality projects, among its more than 6,000 attendees, and more than 80% of visitors have the power to recommend or purchase this type of projects.
Visitors from more than 40 countries attend interihotel and, in addition to this, the organisation is inviting an exclusive group of international opinion-leading studios and hotel groups from the USA, Mexico/Caribbean, the UK and the United Arab Emirates. Hospitality design firms such as Gensler, GVA, HBA or Wells International and hospitality firms such as Marriott, Hilton or Hyatt, among others, have already participated.

As in previous editions, the jury for the awards will be made up of people appointed from entities representing the hotel sector, architecture, interior design, design and academia in the city of Barcelona.
