The award-winning property of Noble House Hotels & Resorts, Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa in California, has completed the renovation of its accommodation and outdoor areas.

The $13.9 million renovation of this hotel, which is owned by Pebblebrook Hotel Trust, has seen the transformation of all 210 guest rooms and suites and the revitalization of its lawns.

New-look accommodation

The award-winning design firm, EDG, led the reimagination of the accommodation offering at Estancia La Jolla, fusing nostalgia and casual comfort with refined luxury and views over the botanical grounds.

“Passion has been the driving force behind this renovation and we’re so excited to be able to share the new rooms with our guests,” said Eric Jenkins, general manager of Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa.

“Estancia La Jolla is such a special place and this renovation not only elevates our current guest experience, but celebrates our history through experiential design that positions us as an elevated destination for all occasions, from local staycations and leisure-driven travel to meetings, groups, weddings and beyond.”

These redesigned rooms and suites now juxtapose elements of the past and present, with references to the property’s equestrian heritage. Bold patterns and colours are seen in tiled flooring that’s inspired by Mexican encaustic tiling in interiors pairing earth tones with pops of colour, rich wood furniture and textured fabrics.

Standout features within these rooms and suites now include a new banquette seating area, plush raised beds with old-world headboards, custom wall coverings, leather-fronted bedside tables and curved wooden dressers. Bathrooms with marble countertops are tucked behind sliding barn doors and technology upgrades like wireless chargers feature throughout.

Enhanced outdoor areas

In addition to the transformation of its accommodation, the property has also revitalised its five existing lawn spaces and introduced one new outdoor area. Altogether spanning 10,000 sq ft, these six lawns enhance the overall experience offered to guests.

These lawns include the 3,136-sq-ft Garden Courtyard, which is the centrepiece of the property with its botanicals and Spanish-style architecture, and the 1,664-sq-ft Olive Lawn found adjacent to the signature restaurant Mustangs & Burros, surrounded by olive trees.

The 1,400-sq-ft Hacienda Lawn caters for gatherings and the 1,400-sq-ft Agave Lawns accommodates more intimate ceremonies. The 1,140-sq-ft Caretaker’s Lawn stands out for its large cacti and historic adobe buildings and the brand-new 1,000-sq-ft Mariposa Lawn provides an area of lush greenery and florals by the Learning Theatre.

The reduction of irrigation required for ground maintenance supports the property’s sustainability endeavours. These grounds also feature an apiary created in collaboration with Alvéole, herb and butterfly gardens and a floral installation by Native Poppy.
