The TOPHOTELPROJECTS construction database shows that Dubai’s already well-developed hotel market is set to grow further in the coming years.
153 hotels with a grand total of 48,410 keys are currently in Dubai’s project pipeline, according to our researchers. We find out more.
Dubai hotel openings by year
In 2021, 79 hotels with 26,168 rooms are slated to launch in Dubai. Only 34 openings are scheduled for 2022 – and they’ll add 8,860 keys to the Emirate’s portfolio. For 2023, another 11 launches are planned, while 29 more projects are on the cards for 2024 and beyond.
Of the new properties, 76 will be in the four-star category, with the remaining 77 in the five-star segment.
Top hotel brands expanding in Dubai
Rove Hotels is growing most aggressively in terms of new properties, with five projects and 1,481 rooms in the pipeline. Millennium Hotels takes first place in terms of new room count, however, with 1,715 keys spread over just four properties.
Further down the list, Rotana Hotels & Resorts will expand its impressive presence in Dubai by introducing four new hotels and 1,551 rooms. Holiday Inn Hotels & Resorts and Jumeirah Hotels & Resorts will also add four properties to their local footprints, with 1,372 and 952 keys respectively.
Noteworthy new hotel projects in Dubai
As always seems to be the case these days, lots of Dubai’s forthcoming hotel projects are promising to deliver something rather special. Let’s take a look at a few of them.
Set on prime real estate on Jumeirah Beach, Bellagio – The Island Resort is due to open in Q3 2022. A total of 500 luxurious rooms will be included, alongside swimming pools, water fountains and artificial waterfalls to wow visitors. Developer Wasl Hospitality & Leisure has tasked Brewer Smith Brewer and Glintmeijer Design Studio with bringing this landmark scheme to life.
Elsewhere, Ciel Dubai will dominate the skyline in Dubai Marina once it’s completed in late 2023; this 360-metre skyscraper will house 1,209 guest rooms and serviced residences spread over 82 floors. A glass observation deck will boast sweeping views of the marina, the Palm and the ocean, while its rooftop will feature the obligatory infinity pool. WS Atkins and Norr Architects are working hard to ensure this headline-grabbing development truly lives up to the hype.
Last but not least, Millennium Place JVT Dubai is finally gearing up to open. The 579-room hotel, owned by The First Group, is aimed principally at business guests, but still offers a variety of leisure amenities – including two specialty restaurants, a spa, a business centre, and a luxurious rooftop clubhouse with a swimming pool, a gym, steam rooms and a sundeck.
