Featuring stunning architecture by Meng Fanhao of Line+ Studio, Anantara Anji Resort will feature 162 guestrooms and an inviting spa when it opens its doors in 2024.

Anantara Anji Resort will introduce guests to an area of north-western Zhejiang province that’s popular with nature lovers and much admired as an ecotourism destination.

A verdant setting

A three-hour drive from Shanghai and less than an hour away from Hangzhou, Anji County is known for its cooler climate, clean air and spectacular natural scenery. It’s been designated an ecology-friendly city and is home to a thriving tourism sector.

In this appealing setting, the newly announced Anantara Anji Resort will benefit from the innovative architectural design of internationally renowned architect Meng Fanhao of Line+ Studio. Construction is set to begin in March 2022 with completion expected by the end of 2024.

The resort will doubtless appeal to culture-minded travellers, with a variety of experiences on offer locally, including visits to ancient temples and the residence of the prominent painter, calligrapher and seal artist Wu Changshuo. Among the daytrips possible from this spectacular location are visits to bamboo forests, stream rafting sites and tea plantations.

Interestingly, this area of China has one of the largest natural bamboo forests in the world, and the emerald mountains and tea plantations of the region form the backdrop for a stylish resort spanning 165 acres.

A new lifestyle destination

On opening, the new Anantara-branded scheme will accommodate guests in 162 rooms ranging from 53 to 216 sq m in size. Resort facilities are to include four restaurants offering Chinese and international cuisine, an outdoor swimming pool with bar, a fitness centre, a children’s activity zone and meeting space.

A highlight of the resort is set to be the Anantara Spa, which will be designed to complement the natural surroundings and encompass full healing and wellness facilities along with a zen pavilion. In addition to introducing guests to the culture and landscape of the area, the property will host sustainability-led activities such as tree planting.

Anantara Anji Resort will join Anantara Guiyang Resort in Guizhou province and Anantara Xishuangbanna Resort in Yunnan province as the brand’s third property in China.
