Handwritten Collection, Accor’s collection brand, is continuing its growth trajectory in Europe with a series of upcoming openings that will mark the brand’s debut in Albania (Tirana), Cyprus (Nicosia), Germany (Düsseldorf), Romania (Bucharest) and Benelux (Zeeland and Vielsalm).

Launched in 2023, the brand is a collection of carefully curated hotels. In the past year alone, the brand has opened 17 hotels in sought-after destinations around the world, including Paris, Malta, Sydney, Shanghai, Phuket and Krakow, amongst others.

With approximately 25 hotels in its development pipeline and over 150 additional projects under varying stages of discussion, Handwritten Collection is one of the fastest-growing collection brands in the world, according to Accor

Some of the highlights in the Handwritten Collection’s pipeline include the Classic Hotel Nicosia, the first of the Collection’s properties in Cyprus. It will offer 54 rooms, a top-floor fitness centre and spa, as well as an on-site Blue Bar restaurant and the ‘59’ restaurant – which was named after 59 vintage knives found during the renovation of the hotel – will serve traditional Cypriot recipes. The property will also offer a versatile space for business events and weddings.

In Albania, the Adorn Tirana will be the brand’s first property in the country and is expected to open this autumn. It will be located in Skanderbeg Square, in the heart of the capital, and will have 25 stylish guest rooms, including six suites, a cozy restaurant and a piano bar.

The MUZE Hotel in Düsseldorf will be Handwritten Collection’s German debut, offering 60 rooms, a bar, a boardroom and an in-house art exhibition. The property is due to open in 2024 and is located just 10 minutes from Königsallee as well as renowned museums and the Rhine River.

Handwritten will be opening Hotel Ter Zand in The Netherlands, an intimate hotel on the coast of Zeeland with 53 rooms, and 32 garden suites. The hotel is in close proximity to the Zeepeduinen Natural Reserve and the sandy beach of Westerschouwen. The hotel is slated to open later in 2024.

There are several openings in France, namely the Fort Saint-Laurent Hotel, Hotel Maison Hamelin Paris, Hôtel Plaza Biarritz Plage and Hotel Castel Maintenon.

Other openings include La Maison Fraiture in Belgium and the Tecadra Bucharest Hotel in Romania. Both properties will be the first Handwritten Collections in their respective countries.

Handwritten Collection was created in 2023, and currently consists of 17 hotels, across 11 countries. These properties are in Australia, France, and China, among others.

Handwritten Collection is part of Accor, a world-leading hospitality group counting over 5,700 properties throughout more than 110 countries, and a participating brand in ALL – Accor Live Limitless – a lifestyle loyalty program providing access to a wide variety of rewards, services, and experiences.

Philippe Bijaoui, Chief Development Officer Premium, Midscale & Economy Division, Accor Europe and North Africa, said: “Our latest additions across Europe demonstrate the success of Handwritten Collection in delivering hotels that resonate with guests seeking distinctive travel experiences. Independent hoteliers and institutional hotel owners value the opportunity to work with an international brand they trust, and the expansion of Handwritten Collection in Europe is a testament to the strong demand we see across the region.”
