Home » Schaerer Celebrates 100,000th Coffee Soul from Zuchwil Factory
The first generation of the Schaerer Coffee Soul was released in 2017 as the successor to the Coffee Art Plus, featuring a black design and an 8‑inch display. Schaerer used direct customer feedback to fundamentally realign both design and user interface. “Our vision was to develop a versatile, modern machine for up to 250 cups per day – offering intuitive touch operation and maximum flexibility to adapt to specific use cases and customer requirements,” explains Sam Geissbühler. This led to the philosophy behind today’s unique Select concept for the Schaerer Coffee Soul: Technical configuration, user guidance, colours and other design elements can be chosen individually, enabling the coffee machine to align precisely with the business model, brand expression and workflows. “We also now offer two screen sizes – 10,4 inches on the Schaerer Coffee Soul 10 and 12,1 inches on the Schaerer Coffee Soul 12. Combined with three operating modes for staff‑served operation, self‑service and frequent users, such as in the office, we can now meet a very wide range of customer needs,” adds Geissbühler. Further personalisation comes from the Coffee Soul’s colour concept. The machine is available in various colours and can be tailored with up to seven easily interchangeable parts in the colour of choice to fit individual requirements. “To date, we have delivered more than 1,500 customer‑specific Coffee Soul variants. In addition, two dedicated US models have been developed for the American market,” says Geissbühler.
Since its launch five years ago, continuous technological enhancements have contributed to the success of the Schaerer Coffee Soul 10 and 12. Highlights include Best Foam technology, which is fitted as standard to produce barista‑quality milk foam, the option of up to three grinders, an integrable syrup station and Hot & Cold technology. The fully automatic Schaerer ProCare cleaning system can also be added. Flexibility has been expanded with the Twin Milk system for dairy and plant‑based beverages, and “Easy Access” has recently introduced a wheelchair-friendly operating experience for self‑service areas. The Schaerer Coffee Soul 2‑step, which features a steam wand instead of an automatic milk system, is now also available to meet coffee shops’ requirements for barista flair. When a barista starts frothing milk, the familiar hiss of the steam wand immediately conjures up the idea of an espresso beverage “made with love”. To complement in‑house barista expertise, three different steam wands are available.
The 100,000th Schaerer Coffee Soul not only celebrates past achievements but also signals the start of the next phase of development. Schaerer will continue to drive innovation, remaining firmly focused on customer needs in order to deliver the most appropriate solutions for the widest range of operating scenarios. In the short to medium term, development will concentrate on offering a broader variety of beverage – including cold‑coffee creations – as well as achieving an even higher quality of espresso.
