A transformational deal in Saudi Arabia promises to help right the imbalance of luxury vs affordable hotel accommodation in the country

Wyndham Hotels & Resorts has launched its Super 8 economy hotel brand in Saudi Arabia, where it will work to develop a network of properties across the country.

A ten year agreement has been struck with local partner Le Park Concord. Together, the pair plan to build up to 100 Super 8 hotels within a decade, supporting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 tourism growth plan.

The signing of the partnership was carried out with the support of the Ministry of Tourism of Saudi Arabia, acknowledging the need for accommodation at all price points. While many international luxury brands from major groups including Marriott, Hilton, IHG and Accor have committed to openings in the country, there is agreement that Saudi Arabia also needs to cater for those on more modest travel budgets. A recent report from Knight Frank noted that just 6% of the country’s hotel pipeline is accounted for by hotels in the economy and midscale segments, meaning branded economy accommodation is seriously under-represented currently.

“Bringing Super 8 to Saudi Arabia is a strategic move to make quality, affordable travel more accessible,” said Wyndham’s EMEA president, Dimitris Manikis. “As tourism accelerates and millions of travellers visit the country each year, the demand for dependable, budget-friendly accommodation continues to grow, whether you are travelling for business or leisure.”

Le Park Concord will be looking to establish hotels under the Super 8 brand in key Saudi cities, and along major highways, as well as in urban transport nodes. The company is a leading operator and developer of hotels in Saudi Arabia, where is currently operates 13 properties with over 900 rooms, and is developing 13 more.

The first Super 8 hotel is expected to launch during 2026, with Le Park Concord seeking to secure additional sites in Riyadh, Jeddah, Makkah, Madinah, and the Al Khobar/Dammam area. The aim is to use smart, modular construction methods that will enable a fast rollout of new hotels, while also ensuring the brand’s focus on sustainability is maintained.

Super 8 lays claim to being one of the world’s largest economy hotel brands. Despite this, it is still barely represented in some parts of the globe, a situation Wyndham is working hard to redress. In April 2025, the group signed a partnership to add up to 40 hotels under the Super 8 name, across Spain and Portugal.

Across EMEA, the brand is also making headway in Germany. There, two pipeline projects are under way, with the Super 8 by Wyndham Berlin Spandau and Super 8 by Wyndham Frankfurt Airport. And in the UK, an affiliation with motorway services operator Roadchef is seeing Super 8 hotels appear in greater numbers up and down the national motorway network, ideally placed for travellers on long road trips.
