This new multi-purpose development in Finland will feature a 285-key hotel, an arena suitable for sporting and cultural events and expansive leisure facilities for visitors and locals alike.

A huge new complex in the Finnish city of Tampere is set to change the game in this inland part of the country.

Featuring a sporting arena, apartments, entertainment facilities and a hotel, the Central Deck Areena will welcome more than 1 million visitors a year.

We find out more.

Europe’s largest multi-purpose area comes to Finland

A new multi-purpose development in Finland is set to break several records upon its completion in 2024. Construction has already begun on the Central Deck Areena in Tampere, a city in the middle of Finland.

The mixed-use complex will contain a variety of attractions and functions, including residences, commercial facilities and a hotel.

The arena will form the development’s focal point and become the largest multi-use venue in Europe. It will be built over the railway station, which links the city to the rest of Finland, and in doing so will bridge the two sides of the city and create a place for meeting and recreation.

Overall the project will be spread over 120,000 sqm, with five towers surrounding the central arena. The towers, the tallest of which is over 100m in height, will house apartments as well as the hotel.

Lapland Hotels to operate hotel

The 285-key hotel will be run by Lapland Hotels and will provide much needed accommodation for the anticipated influx of visitors to Tampere.

Ice hockey games will take place in the arena, which will act as a stadium for the region’s two teams, IIves and Tappara. Concerts and performances will also take place in the venue, and the hotel will accommodate visitors who also wish to explore the surrounding area.

The hotel will offer direct access to the arena, and visitors can dine in its 350-seat restaurant and relax in the on-site bar. To add a Finnish touch, the hotel rooms will be kitted out with traditional Finnish saunas.
