For our latest Project of the Week, we are excited to tell you all about The Monarch San Antonio, a Curio Collection hotel by Hilton. This 17-story luxury boutique hotel is currently under construction in downtown San Antonio’s Hemisfair District and is scheduled to open in early 2026.
A vision rooted in heritage and transformation
Zachry Hospitality broke ground on The Monarch San Antonio in 2023. The 200-room hotel is named for the Monarch butterfly that migrates through the region each winter. Located on Alamo Street, across from the iconic Hilton Palacio del Rio, the property is being developed as a space where visitors and locals converge amid a seamless blend of culture, design, and nature.
“The Monarch San Antonio will offer a bespoke experience that reflects the soul of San Antonio,” said Jenna Hackett, global brand leader of the Curio Collection by Hilton. “It’s a remarkable addition to our growing portfolio of one-of-a-kind hotels.”
Designed by San Antonio-based Overland Partners, the hotel features sustainable materials, native vegetation, and water elements to reflect the surrounding landscape. The Gettys Group is leading the interior design and branding, while Whiting Turner is managing construction. The hotel offers beautiful panoramic views of the River Walk, La Villita, Tower of the Americas, and the new Alamo museum district.
Crafting an unparalleled guest experience
More than a place to stay, The Monarch San Antonio is designed as a full-sensory destination—blending modern luxury with authentic San Antonio character.
