Whitbread is bringing its first Premier Inn to Outer Dublin with a newly approved 157-room hotel in Sandyford Business Park

Whitbread PLC, owner of Premier Inn, has secured a planning grant to build its first hotel in Outer Dublin. The new hotel will be located at 5 Arkle Road, within Sandyford Business Park, Dublin 18—an area known for its strong business and commercial presence.

Whitbread targets Irish growth

The development will feature a 157-bedroom Premier Inn, designed with the brand’s latest bedroom and ground-floor formats. The building is planned to be between five and eight stories tall, bringing much-needed, affordable branded accommodation to one of Dublin’s most dynamic business districts.

Whitbread acquired the long-leasehold interest in the site in December 2023 as part of its broader strategy to expand Premier Inn across Ireland. The company sees potential for up to 5,000 hotel rooms nationwide.

Matt Gent, Development Manager for Whitbread in Ireland, said, “Securing a planning grant to build a new, latest format 157-bedroom Premier Inn hotel at Arkle Road is a huge achievement for the team and another important milestone in the expansion of the Premier Inn across Ireland.”

More locations across Ireland

Whitbread has been steadily expanding in Ireland since opening its first Dublin City Centre hotel on South Great George’s Street in November 2021. It now operates five Premier Inn hotels across the city, including a major location near Dublin Airport in Swords, and opened its first site outside the capital in Cork in 2024.

The company is targeting eleven more locations across Ireland, including Galway, Limerick, Waterford, and Wexford, as well as popular destinations like Killarney, Kilkenny, Sligo, and Westport.
