Four new signings and upcoming openings in Spain have taken IHG’s portfolio in the country past 13,000 rooms.
The additions add considerable momentum to the group’s growth across the Iberian peninsula, where IHG is looking to make the most of strong tourism numbers across Spain and Portugal. It builds on recent signings of 500 rooms, revealed in autumn 2024.
Adding smaller, boutique properties
First of the hotels to open will be the Vignette Collection Mallorca – Finca Banyols. The 45 room hotel is set on a Mallorcan finca, and will be joined later in the year by Vignette Jerez Collection, another small boutique hotel in the heart of Jerez. This second Vignette hotel in Spain has been signed with partner Senator Hotels & Resorts.
A second hotel is upcoming, in partnership with Senator. This will be the 40 room Hotel Indigo Gandia Beach, which will open in July 2025. Overlooking the beach in the coastal town of Gandia, it will feature a beach club and swimming pool.
The fourth of the latest additions to the IHG portfolio in Spain will be a Holiday Inn Express close to San Sebastian airport, opening in mid 2026. The 82 room hotel will be the seventh in a growing collaboration between IHG and Hotel Collection International.
“As one of IHG’s priority markets, it’s wonderful to grow our footprint so substantially in Spain,” said Willemijn Geels, IHG’s vice president for development in Europe. “We have ambitious plans to accelerate the presence of both our powerhouse mainstream segment and our distinctive luxury & lifestyle collection in Spain’s key urban and leisure destinations.”
In March 2025, the group signed its first hotel on the island of Menorca. A 75 room hotel there will convert to IHG’s Hotel Indigo brand, opening in summer 2026. This joins pipeline projects including the Hotel Indigo in Jerez de la Frontera, an 82 room hotel that will open in spring 2026. Combining two neighbourhood buildings, it will feature a rooftop bar, restaurant and swimming pool.
Around the same time, IHG will open Voco Granada, a 167 room hotel that will be another partnership with Senator Hotels & Resorts. Close to the historic centre of the city, it will be the first IHG hotel in the destination, and the second Voco to open in Spain.
Additions to the Holiday Inn brand family
There are two more Holiday Inn Express sites already under development. Holiday Inn Express & Suites Sabadell, due to open in late 2025, will be the first hybrid project in Spain. It will feature a mix of hotel rooms and around 20 suites, designed to give an easier stay for families, or travellers seeking a base for a longer stay.
And another Holiday Inn Express is set to join the portfolio in spring 2026, with the launch of a new hotel in Seville. The 148 room property will be converted from existing space in a shopping centre, providing an ideal location for those looking to connect with the city, or stay over before or after a flight from Seville airport.
