Hyatt Hotels has laid out plans that will see its Hyatt Centric brand grow by 50% before the end of 2028.
The strong pipeline includes plenty of new global destinations for the brand, which promises guests a culturally immersive experience wherever they choose to stay. Hotel locations are chosen to provide a hub in the city, close to the heart of the action.
Building a global presence for Centric
The plans will add more than 35 hotels to the Centric portfolio, taking it to more than 100 hotels around the world by 2029. Much of the growth will be in Asia Pacific, while there will also be new openings in the Americas, Europe and across the Middle East.
Hyatt Centric was launched in 2015 as a full service lifestyle brand, equally designed to welcome business and leisure travellers. The ethos behind the brand was to put the guest at the heart of the action, in the best destinations.
At the time, Hyatt CEO Mark Hoplamazian noted: “We learned there was an opportunity to better meet the needs of a large group of travellers that we call Modern Explorers. These travellers are looking for a cosmopolitan vibe in the centre of the action, so we worked to test various elements in real time, in real hotels over the past two years. Hyatt Centric is the culmination of that work.”
Based on that knowledge, the brand set out to focus on three core elements, starting with creating an authentic opening to the destination. Once inside a Hyatt Centric, the focus is on simplicity, with some common elements such as a curated collection of local books. The brand also looks to balance the desire to introduce new technology, with the need for human touches.
Upcoming additions to the portfolio in the Americas include Hyatt Centric Chicago O’Hare, a rebrand of the former Hyatt Rosement, and Hyatt Centric Cincinnati, opening in 2026. Canadian travellers can look forward to the 2026 launches of Hyatt Centric Victoria in British Columbia, and Hyatt Centric Winnipeg Downtown.
Also coming during 2025 are Hyatt Centric Isla Verde San Juan, the first hotel for the brand in Puerto Rico. And the brand is also launching in Mexico, with Hyatt Centric Queretaro opening in the UNESCO World Heritage destination later this year.
There are three openings planned across the growing Indian market. These include Hyatt Centric Bengaluru Airport, and hotels in Bangalore and Vrindavan, a spiritual centre in the north of the country.
Building in the Chinese market
China features large in the plans to grow the Centric brand. planned openings include two hotels in the Shanghai region, plus Hyatt Centric Tianxin Changsha and Hyatt Centric The Ring Chengdu. Also coming is the first Hyatt Centric in Japan, opening in Sapporo in 2026, and Hyatt Centric East Taipei.
Three hotels will join the brand in Europe. The first to open will be in France, with Hyatt Centric Reims launching later in 2025, located not far from the city’s Notre Dame cathedral. During 2026, Hyatt Centrics will open in Hamburg, and in the Icelandic capital, Reykjavik.
