Grupo Piñero emphasises local influence in Dominican Republic resort rebrand

Spanish-headquartered Grupo Piñero is redeveloping an existing hotel in the Dominican Republic under its Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts brand.

Cayo Levantado Resort will be a five-star 24-hour all-inclusive resort on Isla Cayo Levantado, just off the north east coast of the Caribbean country, when the project completes this June.

Extensive renovations

The completely rebranded and extensively renovated property will feature more than 200 rooms of different categories.

Onsite will be two swimming pools, two spas (including a jungle spa), an outdoor CrossFit area, a beach club, a personal training studio, a beauty salon, a botanic garden, and an area focused on wellness.

The gastronomic offer will comprise three à la carte restaurants, one buffet restaurant, four bars, and a coffee shop. Two additional specialty restaurants will give visitors dining options outside the all-inclusive offerings.

Local influence

Local interior designers, architects and professionals took part in the development of the area by integrating Dominican culture in all areas, including gastronomy and mixology.

Sustainability will also be a focus, with waste management strategies and renewable energy through a biodigester being implemented, making this a self-sufficient property. In addition, gardening, and landscaping with native species of the island will be used.

Important benchmark

Lluisa Salord, VP of sales, contracting, and distribution at Grupo Piñero, said: “We are thrilled to announce the launch of this very unique nature’s enclave. Cayo Levantado Resort is certainly an important benchmark in the Dominican Republic, a major sustainable innovation project taking shape with the help of local companies and talent in Samaná. This project not only adds value to the tourism sector but also contributes to the development of the country and the local community.”

With this project as its flagship, the Bahia Principe Hotel & Resorts brand evolved its business and entered the luxury hotel management segment with the aim of improving its offer and adding value to the tourism sector.
