Hilton Worldwide’s Curio Collection has added The Royal Senses Resort Crete, a 179-room newbuild hotel, to its expanding global portfolio.

The Greek island of Crete has been given a major boost with the news that hospitality giant Hilton Worldwide has signed a deal with Troulis Royal Collection to open a contemporary property, The Royal Senses Resort Crete, Curio Collection by Hilton, on the island in 2021.

A picturesque location

Now part of Hilton’s full-service brand Curio Collection brand, The Royal Senses Resort Crete is located on the northern part of the island in the picturesque Rethymno region, close to attractions including the Melidoni Cave and Knossos Palace. The luxurious hotel will occupy a contemporary newbuild property that slots seamlessly into the island’s rugged landscape and boasts spectacular sea views.

“We are delighted that the Royal Senses Resort Crete, Curio Collection by Hilton will be the first in Greece to join this stunning selection of handpicked properties,” said Eleni Troulis, president of lifestyle hotel company Troulis Royal Collection. “Having successfully operated its sister property, the Royal Blue Resort, since 2009, we are now excited to be expanding our portfolio and partnering with Hilton. It’s the perfect collaboration for us, as it combines the resort’s contemporary appreciation of Crete’s multifaceted culture and our family’s hospitality values with Hilton’s strong international customer appeal.”

A dedicated beach and marina

Staying true to the Curio Collection’s distinctive ethos, a range of facilities will be offered to guests including a spa, an indoor and outdoor pool, a water park and tennis courts, plus a private beach and marina.

Patrick Fitzgibbon, senior vice president, development for Europe, Middle East and Africa at Hilton, said: “Crete is one of Greece’s most popular islands, thanks to its warm climate, rich history and picturesque villages. Royal Senses Resort Crete will make a stunning addition to our rapidly growing Curio Collection of unique hotels, which includes upcoming properties in destinations including Lisbon, London and Reykjavik.”

Curio is a collection of independent, remarkable hotels whose only unifying characteristic is their glorious individuality.
