Canadian hotel group Sandman Signature is transforming Sheffield’s iconic Quays Hotel into a four-star destination

Sandman Signature, a Canadian hospitality group, is spearheading a major transformation of The Quays Hotel in Sheffield city center. The 128-room property, formerly operated as a Best Western Plus and originally a Hilton, has been acquired by Sandman’s parent company, Northland Properties Corporation, as part of their strategic UK expansion.

A new era for Victoria Quays

Located on the historic Victoria Quays waterfront, the hotel occupies a prime three-acre site and is set to undergo extensive renovations. Plans include refurbishing guest rooms, upgrading the restaurant, and installing large, illuminated signage to reflect the Sandman Signature brand’s identity. These improvements aim to elevate the hotel to a four-star standard and enhance Sheffield’s hospitality offering.

With existing Sandman Signature hotels in Aberdeen, Newcastle, and London, this acquisition strengthens the group’s footprint in the UK market. Northland Properties emphasizes its commitment to significant investment and operational expertise to showcase the next generation of Sandman Signature hotels in Sheffield. This revitalization aligns with Sheffield’s broader city center regeneration efforts, supporting local tourism and business growth while preserving the city’s historic waterfront charm.
