A tribute to Neckarsulm’s history

The historic Nestor Hotel in Neckarsulm has been repositioned under the ibis Styles brand of the Accor Group. Property owner Art-Invest Real Estate and operator The Chocolate on the Pillow Group entrusted Brumann with both the development of the interior design and the comprehensive modernization and rebranding of the hotel, carried out as general contractor during ongoing operations.

At the heart of the project lies a design concept that reflects the two defining elements of Neckarsulm’s identity: motorsport and viticulture. The guestrooms immerse visitors in a dynamic motorsport atmosphere – with large-scale wall graphics of legendary NSU vehicles, carbon-look headboards and bold accents reminiscent of racing cars of the past. This design is complemented by a custom-made carpet featuring tire track patterns, subtly conveying motion and energy throughout the corridors. Even the bathrooms continue the story, with shower areas inspired by car wash boxes that interpret the theme in a playful way. In the lobby and meeting rooms, by contrast, a welcoming and tranquil ambiance takes center stage. Warm materials, decorative wine barrels and sepia-toned artwork pay homage to the region’s viticulture and create a harmonious counterpoint. The result is a carefully balanced interplay of dynamism and serenity, offering guests both a memorable experience and a sense of comfort.

Beyond the design transformation, the project also included an expansion of the room categories. Today, 97 modernized units are available – among them barrier-free rooms, family rooms and small suites. Active guests benefit from a fitness area equipped with high-quality Technogym machines, while e-charging stations and bicycle parking facilities provide sustainable mobility solutions in line with contemporary travel behavior.

One of the greatest challenges was executing the project during ongoing hotel operations – a task Brumann mastered with precision and efficiency. In addition to the creative redesign, the work also encompassed extensive technical upgrades, including adjustments to building services, modernization of sanitary facilities and the implementation of current fire protection standards. The result is a hotel that impresses not only with a distinctive interior but also with state-of-the-art standards in comfort, safety and sustainability.
