Choice Hotels has joined its peers in broadening its choice of resort properties, by forming an alliance with Westgate Resorts

Choice Hotels has added a new portfolio of resort properties across the USA to its guest offering. An agreement to partner with Westgate Resorts will see the properties available for reservation across key Choice Hotels channels.

Seven of the resorts are in the Orlando, Florida area, with the rest spread across the country including beach and mountain locations. From among this wide variety are family friendly options such as the Treasure Cove Water Park at Westgate Lakes Resorts & Spa in Orlando; or the winter ski resort destination of Westgate Park City Resort & Spa, which offers ski-in and ski-out convenience linking to the Park City, Utah ski paradise.

Linked to the loyalty programme

Westgate Resorts chief business & strategy officer Jared Saft explained the rationale behind the move. “Choice Privileges consistently ranks as one of the best hotel loyalty programmes in the United States, and we are honoured to make our resorts available to all of Choice’s loyal guests.”

The properties are fully linked to the Choice sales and marketing distribution network, while also coming under the Choice Privileges loyalty programme, which currently has just over 68 million members. “The addition of these properties further solidifies our commitment to delivering more diverse travel experiences, while providing Choice Privileges members with even more ways to use their points and maximize their rewards,” noted Noha Abdalla, chief marketing officer at Choice Hotels International.

Westgate Resorts is a leading operator in the timeshare sector, and one of America’s largest resort developers. Its locations feature more than 13,500 hotel rooms and villas, and the group launched its own loyalty programme in 2022, World of Westgate.

The move to add more variety to the Choice network comes just weeks after Choice revealed new visual identities for its Radisson, Radisson Blu and Radisson Individuals brands. The company acquired rights to the Radisson brands in 2022, for Americas region, and has been working to reposition the brands to appeal to a more upscale guest segment.

The company points out that aside from improving the guest experience, refits can also improve returns for hotel investors looking to partner with a successful brand. Among the US hotels undergoing refurbishment are the Radisson Cedar Rapids, and the 275 room Radisson Hotel Philadelphia Northeast.

Upgrades for Radisson properties

“We are excited to usher in a new era for these beloved Radisson brands,” said Indy Adenaw, senior vice president and general manager, upscale brands for Choice. “We’re committed to further strengthening and distinguishing these brands within an increasingly competitive landscape so that owners can be confident they’re gaining a truly great value from their investment.”

Choice has plans for a number of new Radisson branded hotels, and not just in the USA. In Brazil, the beachfront 144 room Radisson the Coral Flecheiras Hotel is in the pipeline, while in Mexico plans are being advanced for the 150 room Radisson Hotel Saltillo, expected to open in 2026.
