Starwood Capital Group affiliate SH Hotels & Resorts is taking its Treehouse Hotels brand to Australia for the first time with a new signing in Adelaide.

Due to open in 2026, Treehouse Adelaide is intended to combine the spirit of innovation and dynamism of Australia’s vibrant coastal city with the lifestyle brand’s nostalgic and whimsical ethos.

Local connection

The hotel will showcase locally sourced original arts and crafts, cosy spaces, found objects, nostalgic tunes, handmade details and seasonal and natural innovative fare. The halcyon spirit of childhood that defines the Treehouse brand is designed to connect locals and guests to the natural and cultural attraction of South Australia.

In addition to 248 guestrooms and suites, food and beverage offerings include an all-day dining restaurant, a terrace bar with outdoor seating, a lobby lounge and a ‘Backyard’ grab and go for casual treats and snacks. The property will feature over 500 sq m of indoor and outdoor event space, and more than 230 sq m of fitness and wellness spa and treatment facilities.

Creative collaboration

The property will be managed by SH Hotels & Resorts, with the project being the product of a creative collaboration among public and private partners, including the Adelaide Economic Development Agency and ICD Property,

Treehouse Adelaide is a component of the Market Square office, retail, hospitality, and residential project, an AUD400 million mixed use commercial development currently under construction in the historic heart of Adelaide.

Global branches

The Treehouse brand is putting down roots globally, with a quartet of pipeline properties including the 216-key Treehouse Hotel Manchester heading to the UK by the end of this year, and Treehouse Hotel Diriyah Gate, arriving in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia in Q1 2027.

American additions will comprise Treehouse Hotel Sunnyvale, bringing 254 rooms online in California in Q4 this year, and the 200-key Treehouse Brickell, planned to complete in Miami, Florida in Q1 2025.
