The first Italian property for Munich-headquartered Ruby Hotels, Ruby Florence will occupy a beautiful 19th-century building featuring Florentine arcades on the ground floor.

This 118-key property in the Tuscan capital will house a range of enticing amenities.

A historic conversion

In October 2021, Ruby Hotels announced plans to launch the first Italian hotel embodying its ‘Lean Luxury’ hospitality concept. Ruby Florence will incorporate 118 rooms, workspace, a bar with a café, and a terrace in the inner courtyard.

Genius Loci Architettura will oversee the renovation of an attractive 19th-century building, located on Piazza della Libertà in the northern part of the historic centre, that’s been earmarked for the project. The property leased to Ruby is owned by the GB Holding Group, which will contribute towards the cost of refurbishment, and benefits from ground-floor Florentine arcades and high ceilings, allowing some rooms to be turned into maisonettes.

Interiors will be carried out by Ruby’s in-house design team, led by Matthew Balon.

Luxurious and affordable accommodation

The scheme aims to encapsulate Ruby’s concept of ‘Lean Luxury’, providing luxurious and unique hotel experiences that are also affordable.

From the hotel, guests will be able to easily explore the old town district of San Marco, known for its museums and botanical gardens. Prominent sights such as Palazzo Medici Riccardi and Fortezza da Basso are also just a short walk away.

Ruby Florence is due to launch in Q3 2023.
