Niro Investment Group hires head of hospitality and development

Christophe Chamboncel, previously vice-president operations management for Southeastern Europe at Accor, will draw on his extensive industry experience in the newly created role.

Niro Investment Group, which is behind high-profile projects like Corinthia Grand Hotel du Boulevard Bucharest and SwissĂ´tel Bucharest, has announced a key appointment.

Bolstering Niro’s management team

Niro has bolstered its management team by recruiting Christophe Chamboncel as head of hospitality and development. In this new role, he’s tasked with leading the company’s development and hospitality operations teams across its portfolio, as well as providing guidance on risk covering both new and existing opportunities.

Chamboncel boasts more than 25 years’ experience in hospitality, primarily focused on operations and development, and building brands across Africa and Eastern Europe. Before joining Niro, has was vice-president operations management for Southeastern Europe at Accor; this position involved him assuming responsibility for all operations in Romania and Southeastern Europe, driving operational excellence and profitability across more than 50 hotels.

Chamboncel said: “Through the expertise gained in my previous activity in the hospitality industry, I am looking forward to contributing to the development of current projects and the capitalisation of future business opportunities.”

An experienced investor, developer and asset manager

Niro is a privately owned Romanian group of companies with almost 30 years’ expertise in investment, development and asset management. It has developed and managed a varied portfolio of projects, including Eastern Europe’s largest commercial hub and distribution gateway, hotels, offices and homes.

In the hospitality sector, the group is spearheading the Corinthia Grand Hotel du Boulevard Bucharest transformation project, which is currently at an advanced stage of execution with an opening scheduled for December 2022. It’s also working on the SwissĂ´tel Bucharest scheme, which will occupy an 85-metre-high building – making it Romania’s tallest hotel – when it debuts in the fourth quarter of 2023.
