The THP research team has been beavering away in February, adding over 150 entries to our database.

Here, we showcase three of the latest projects which you need to keep an eye on in the coming months.

Anantara Convento di Amalfi Grand Hotel

Continuing Minor Hotels’ European expansion, it is restoring and renovating a heritage hotel occupying a 13th-century monastery and former Cappuccini Friars Convent on the Amalfi coast in southern Italy. The site will become Anantara Convento di Amalfi Grand Hotel when it opens this spring.

The historic property will reveal new-look accommodation, refreshed dining concepts and a completely redesigned spa, all perched on a clifftop 80 m above the sea level with Mediterranean Sea views. To convey continuity and heritage, the property’s 52 guestrooms and suites will see existing tiled flooring, vaulted ceilings and lime-washed walls carefully preserved.

Upgraded facilities will include a bar and lounge area on the reception level, the Mediterranean and pizza restaurant, an Anantara Spa with three treatment rooms and a sea-facing spa relaxation area, plus a fully equipped gym.

Mama Shelter Saray Casablanca

Accor’s Ennismore division is planning its first African site for its upscale Mama Shelter brand. Mama Shelter Saray Casablanca will open its doors in Casablanca, Morocco in Q4 2024.

A multi-component project, it includes five-storey buildings with high-standing apartments, offices, shops and leisure areas alongside the hotel. Featuring 92 rooms and 49 apartments, the property will integrate nature throughout, with hanging gardens and green spaces.

The hotel will have three swimming pools, including the longest swimming pool in the city, a restaurant, a rooftop lounge, indoor and outdoor fitness equipment, as well as communal spaces such as the yoga area and the Chill & Lounge. Additionally, Mama Shelter Saray Casablanca will also house a meeting room, and multi-use events spaces which include a terrace.

Shell Bay Club and Resort, Auberge Resort Collection

Over in the US, luxury brand Auberge Resorts Collection was selected by Witkoff and PPG to manage Shell Bay, Auberge Resorts Collection in Miami, Florida. Slated to completely open in 2025, Shell Bay will feature a boutique hotel and bespoke residences anchored by a private members’ club, featuring a private yacht club, an 18,000-sq-ft spa and fitness facility, a racquet club and a Greg Norman-designed championship golf course.

Featuring enhanced modern living, the new 130-acre resort will boast a luxury hotel, featuring 60 guestrooms and suites, and a brand new 20-storey residential tower with 108 Auberge branded residences. Interior design firm AvroKO has been selected to lead the design of the residences and hotel rooms, which combine open-concept layouts,  wraparound terraces and expansive golf course and water views.

Multiple dining venues will be onsite, with extensive outdoor seating areas, including a signature restaurant and lounge, members’ bar and grill (exclusive to club members) and pool grill. The hotel will house an 18,000-sq-ft fitness centre and spa facility, including an outdoor wellness terrace, while the roof deck of the resident towers will also feature a 14,000-sq-ft resort pool, complete with a hot tub and spa facilities. Indoor meeting spaces will also be plentiful, with a 9,000-sq-ft ballroom and an expansive outdoor terrace.
