The hospitality giant has struck a deal with longtime collaborator Sun Hospitality Group to launch four properties and more than 2,700 rooms across the country in 2026.

These ambitious plans from IHG encompass the creation of Vietnam’s first large-scale onsen destination resort at Quang Hanh’s Yoko Park, along with three hotels in Ba Na Hills.

New IHG sites across Vietnam

IHG has struck a four-hotel, 2,709-room portfolio deal involving two integrated development projects with tourism-focused real estate developer Sun Hospitality Group, a member of Sun Group, in Vietnam. The new announcement follows on from the successful creation of InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort.

This agreement covers the 616-room Holiday Inn Resort Yoko Park Onsen in Quang Ninh Province, which is to be the first large-scale hot spring resort in Vietnam in a significant expansion of the existing Yoko Onsen Quang Hanh Resort. The partners will also establish the 602-room Crowne Plaza Danang Ba Na Hills, 843-room Holiday Inn Resort Danang Ba Na Hills and 648-room voco Danang Ba Na Hills as part of the ongoing development of Ba Na Hills.

Nguyen Vu Quynh Anh, CEO for Sun Hospitality Group, added: “Our flagship InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort is world-renowned and IHG has proven to be a great partner, being both nimble and flexible in their approach and delivering a consistently strong performance for the hotel as we move into recovery together.

“Quang Ninh Province is already famous for Halong Bay, and it will now offer a new wellness experience with Holiday Inn Resort Yoko Park Onsen. As the first large-scale hot spring resort in Vietnam, it will appeal to guests seeking drive-to and natural destinations to visit and explore.

“Following the success of the Ba Na Hills entertainment complex, we will introduce phase two of our expansion plan, where all three new hotels will be managed by IHG.”

A growing presence in South-East Asia

The creation of these new properties will place IHG among the most prominent international hotel operators in Quang Ninh province, and increase its Danang portfolio to seven hotels.

Serena Lim, vice president of development in Southeast Asia and Korea for IHG, said: “This marquee portfolio deal is aligned with our plan to grow our estate in Vietnam across all brands. As we work through the recovery, we know that domestic leisure business will be a strong driver of growth in the country. We’re looking to develop a range of destination resorts and family-friendly destinations across Vietnam.

“We are extremely proud of being a part of Ba Na Hills – one of the top theme park attractions in the cooling highlands of Danang, and are already looking forward to further opportunities to collaborate with Sun Group and introduce more of our much-loved brands in new and exciting locations in the country.”
