Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) is planning a fifth Ginger brand hotel in Ahmedabad, within the western Indian state of Gujarat.
Located in the Changodar district, the hotel will be part of a mixed-use development project. It will be operated under a lease with the Thakur Group of Companies.
Strategic location
Strategically located on the Ahmedabad-Rajkot national highway, the hotel will be within easy driving distance from the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. With over 95 rooms, the hotel will also feature an all-day diner and fitness centre.
The new Ginger site will have multiple conference rooms and a banqueting hall to host business meetings and events. This brownfield project is slated to open in 2024.
Satellite presence
Commenting on the latest signing, Suma Venkatesh, executive vice president – real estate and development, IHCL, said: “Aside from being an important manufacturing hub, Changodar is located in close proximity to Ahmedabad, a key commercial and industrial centre.
“This signing, our fifth hotel under the Ginger brand, is in line with IHCL’s strategy in being present in leading satellite cities across India. With the addition of this hotel, IHCL will expand its presence to seven hotels across brands in Ahmedabad. We are pleased to partner with the Thakur Group of Companies for this project.”
All go for Gujarat
With the addition of this hotel, IHCL will have 17 hotels in Gujarat from across its brand portfolio including four under development.
One of these is Vivanta Ahmedabad which will bring 176 rooms online when it opens in the fourth quarter of this year. The hotel’s dining options will include Mynt, an all-day dining restaurant, lobby café Swirl and a specialty restaurant. The recreational facilities will comprise a pool, fitness centre and spa, meeting rooms, and a banquet hall for social and business gatherings.
